I say his performance vs the Jets was his best in a big game. The throws he was making were on point. He just tore-up the Jets Defense in the 2nd half. Performance's like the one on Sunday vs the Jets,is why he is the only 4-time M.V.P.!!!!:rock:

It can't be hammered in that the Jets had, across all boards, the best Defense in the NFL.

Manning didn't just outsmart the Jets... he abused the Jets. He took a couple of sacks to produce looks that led to keyholing their scheme. About halfway through the second quarter Manning had them. He keyed in on their blitz packages and just demolished them. Ridiculous.

I hope he didn`t wear himself out. He said in his press conference that he was exhausted (tired out from the preperation for the jets). I feel like I can`t lose in the SB. I don`t detest either team. Pittsburgh isn`t there. The vikings aren`t there (wouldn`t actually have a problem with them if farve wasn`t on that team). The cowboys aren`t there. It could be a very good SB. Of course none of my teams are there (skins, titans & bolts).

and in Ryan's press conf he said as much. Said they tried every thing he could think of and Manning just shrugged it off and kept going. Must have said PM's name a couple dozen times

This Morning on Mike & Mike, Mike Ditka said that no in the Modern Era runs/calls a game or offense like Peyton and no one can or will...

True all!

No one is more prepared, and as in control as Manning!

Read somewhere that to prepare for the SB with the Bears he spent the entire 2 weeks watching film of every bears game and had his backup QB studying their preseason games!!

He will run plays just to see what their D will do and exploit it later.

He knows what he and every other player on O should do!

In the game with the Ravens, on one play, somebody missed a blitzer and sent Peyton scrambling and you could actually here Peyton say "Go**amnit Donald" as he was running!!
Might have been Donald Brown RB. It was too funny!:rock:

For as much as I hate the Colts, I am glad to see that Manning has finally stopped choking in big games. Basically every big game he's played in for the past 3 or 4 years, the Colts have won. Too bad he couldn't get that out of his system while he was still here in Knoxville.

Peyton at UT from 94-97, no D, no NC.
Tn 98, good D, result NC.

The real story of the Colts Jets game, D shuts down the Jets in the second half.

Or maybe football is played by 11 guys on the field and not just 1. He did win a SEC Championship here and is one of the most successful QBs in college football history.

The 11 guys and not 1 analysis applies to the positive as well.

That is true, during his time he never had a stellar defense to back him up. He complied rediculous stats, set all kinds of records, but it always seemed like he saved his best for when it mattered the lease. If before each of his seasons here in Knoxville you were to circle the biggest game of the year, UT put a loss next to that game every time. Particularly in the '96 and '97 Florida games he threw a couple of pick 6's that basically took UT out of the game before it ever really got started. Also, he struggled mightily against Belichick's defenses when they were in their prime. Don't take all this the wrong way, I like Manning a lot, and am glad to see that he's shed that stigma of always choking in the big games. I just don't like the Colts because they beat my Titans like a drum twice every year.

sorry for being a bit off topic, but does anyone know the difference between Manning and Brees coming out of High School? (stars, etc)

Absolutely, I could not agree more. The rest of the Colts offensive players get overlooked, except maybe Wayne and Clark.

Peyton proved this year that he could be successful with anyone at receiver. Collie and Garcon? Please. Nobody wanted those guys, yet Peyton can win a SB with them, hopefully. Do you really think they'd have progressed to this level without Peyton coaching them up all year? It's like having the best OC in the league starting at QB.

The O-line has to block for him to throw it and the receivers still have to run the correct route and catch it, you can't dismiss the hard work that every other guy on that offense has put in.

There's been games that Peyton has had better number but with that said I think this was one of his greatest games as a QB. Jets had hands down the best defense in the league and he made them look fools.
