Peyton and Tee

I think Butch made it apparent to Peyton that he doesn't have a place for him on this staff. Jmo

I don't think Peyton ever had plans to coach anywhere. Folks want him too - and I think in the one interview he tried to walk a thin line because fans at UT still love him and he wants it to stay that way.

This is as close to right as possible IMO. Peyton has higher aspirations and bigger professional fish to fry than to be a position coach for his alma mater. Anybody who actually thought it was ever a possibility was doing so with their emotions.

My guess is he'll continue to be the program's most visible supporter/ambassador, he'll continue to do some work with the qbs and staff in the off-season and we'll very likely see him on the sidelines supporting the team vs our top rivals like Florida or Georgia or Alabama. But from listening to NFL guys, it sure looks like we'll see him involved with an NFL team in the future as apart of their front office/ownership.

I could be wrong, but if Peyton ever returns to Knoxville in a professional capacity, it would be many years down the road as the AD or perhaps in a very high position within the University administration (less likely IMO).

Depending upon the verification of certain unsaid and variably ambiguous non-absolute perameters, infinitesimal probabilities would perhaps indicate that the effective response is many, many times more certain than the end result of the hypothetical response chain.

Just always get that weird feeling Orangeville will never be allowed to leave the 90s.

I get the weird feeling nobody on Volnation gives a **** what your opinion is on this particular topic.

Never want to discourage fans of other teams from posting. Just sayin. This doesn't really involve Bama other than Tee being from Mobile.

For doing what? What happened?

Edit: oh, I get it. Are you really equating a newly retired Manning, who more than likely will pursue a stated interest in helping run/own an NFL franchise, but at the moment is "unemployed" and hasn't decided what his next project cession all move is.........with a current coach at USC who very publicly flew across the country to interview for an open coaching position at Tennessee, only to then very publicly say no, no thanks alma mater, I'll stay out here on Lane Kiffin's staff?

Man, I just don't see the parallel. Perhaps we could revisit this once we catch Peyton on tape talking about how "soft and terrible" our highest rated recruit from the 2017 class is?
I will not trash Tee due to what he did as a Vol. That said I am also not going to forget anytime soon him trashing VFL Hurd either. Tee had nothing to gain by making those comments about the youngster, it was uncalled for IMO.

As far as Peyton goes it's hard to say this without sounding like an elitist but Manning has always been destined for something much more important and higher than a football coach. I have the upmost respect for coaches (multiple family members who coached from the SEC to the NFL) but Peyton doesn't fit that description.

I think it is time to bury that hatchet with Tee and bring him back and celebrate him the way he should be celebrated! I've said some harsh things about Tee Martin, but it is time to forgive and forget and move on. I think he would be a wonderful addition to the Vol Staff, and i think Butch should explore any opportunity he has to make that happen!

Not what I was saying at all. But, yes Tee you did it all by yourself. Especially the Florida win with all of your 63 yards passing.

I stand corrected. But, I still don't understand all the hate for a guy who won a title. I'm sure his life decisions are bigger than TN football.

You can do your job AND not take shots at recruits who pick your alma mater over your employer...others have managed. :hi:
