let's talk about the coach between Phil and Peyton. Peyton is the man but we are in serious trouble......

Peyton did exactly what he was asked to do. He put his Pro-bowl, Super Bowl MVP, ass on the sidelines so that recruits could remember that at some point in the past we were still a good football team.

i wish some one would have either...

A) gave him some pads
B) gave him a headset and a dry erase bored so he could scratch up a better offense then what we have

I'm sorry you could have had Peyton, Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw, Dan Marino and Tom Brady out there trying to coach Crompton but truth be known you can't fix stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cmon, the guy is making 12 mil a year.Does anyone really think he would throw that away and coach our team?
He is another Brett Favre...Got another 5 to 10 yrs in him.Besides that he is from LA,who is to say he wouldnt go coach the Saints if he did retire?

He owns land here and his wife is from here. I see him playing 10 more years and retiring. because he loves the game I believe he will not be able to stay away. College football will be his passion because look at what he will be able to do off season, the recruiting and knowing what direction he wants to take the team in. with a NFL you have the owners wanting to run the show. As a coach you are limited with what players you can get.

I would love to see Peyton coaching our team in the future. He is my favorite Vol of all time and one of the greatest QBs to ever walk. BUT, I sure would hate to see his name being drug around on here like PF's. There is a chance that Peyton can't get it done coaching and it sure would tarnish his name if he got considered a looser here and had to leave the program.
Almost all great coaches eventually get tarnished.
Look at Bowden, Paterno, Spurrier, Holtz and even a former NC winner Fulmer. They were all on top at one time or another and look at them now. Loosers in the minds of many.

If I was a coach, I would make myself quit on top before this happened. Fulmer should have listened to Fulmer and left in 98.

I have seen this as a possibility for three years now. With his degree in communication you have to wonder whether he sees his future as a commentator or analyst or could he have had coaching in mind all these years. Then you have to wonder is he just waiting for cpf to retire.:good!:
I have heard on numerous accasions that Peyton would like to coach after his playing days are over, but I do believe that will be in the NFL.

He wouldn't need to be the HC just the OC..

Let's take a look at that... Tennessee's had 3 OC and I have YET to see anything different... Hrmm, that tells me maybe the fat HC has something to do with that.. If Fulmer is gone it would probably amaze you how good we would be.

I just thought it was awesome that he showed up at the game during his bye week. With the program being down like it is it would be easy for him to be scarce, even though we lost, and im sure his presence gave the team a morale boost.

Fulmer probably asked to to help get fan support. I bet it was a horrible experience for him to stand there and watch Crompton, probably one of the best and worst UT qbs of all time (as of right now)
