What the NYT sports writer reminds me of:

The Preacher's Ass

A preacher who wanted to raise money for his church was told there was a fortune in horse racing, so he decided to buy a horse and enter it in the races. However, at the local auction, the going price for horses was so steep that the preacher ended up buying a donkey instead. He figured, however, that since he had it, he might as well go ahead and enter it in the races. To his surprise, in the first race, his donkey came in second. The next day the paper read:
PREACHER'S ASS SHOWS

The preacher was so pleased that he entered the donkey in another race. This time, it won, and the paper read:
PREACHER'S ASS OUT IN FRONT

The Bishop was so upset with this kind of publicity that he ordered the preacher not to enter the donkey in another race. The new headline read:
BISHOP SCRATCHES PREACHER'S ASS

This was too much for the Bishop, and he ordered the preacher to get rid of the animal. The preacher, being a charitable chap, gave it to a nun in a nearby convent. The headline the next day said:
NUN HAS BEST ASS IN TOWN

The Bishop fainted! He told the nun that she would have to dispose of the donkey, and she finally found a farmer who would take it off her hands for ten dollars. The paper said:
NUN PEDDLES ASS FOR TEN BUCKS

They buried the Bishop the next day. The following day's paper read:
TOO MUCH ASS RESPONSIBLE FOR BISHOP'S DEATH

Just posted in another thread, that I'm not sure this is a good idea. He isn't gonna give a dang what y'all think. But the NYT will give a dang that he's getting all these emails. That means all these people are reading and responding. Media outlets are judged by circulation. He'll probably stop reading after the first paragraph anyways.

I agree that sensationism sells papers. The NYT is acting like the National Enquirer of TMZ over this, at least those guys know they have no journalistic integrity.

Please be respectful in your emails. We have enough problems without giving actual evidence of stupidity on the part of UT supporters.

I was very polite in calling him a biased yellow-journalist with a thinly veiled vendetta.

If you want to make some real noise contact his editor:

Thomas Jolly

Contact Title: Sports Editor
Outlet: The New York Times
Phone: 212-556-7371
Email: jolly@nytimes.com
Exactly, if you want to actually damage the guy send some well thought out, factually supported emails to his editor. The "you suck" email isn't going to accomplish anything except put a smile on his editor's face for the story getting so much attention.

These people must be held accountable for what they write.

Jesus... this is a stupid idea.

You guys obviously don't know journalists if you think they're going to do anything other than pass them around the office and laugh. Thick skin guys, they've got really thick skin.

I told him he sold his journalistic soul and that they're either dumb enuff to get exposed or (more likely), they didn't care bc they're "damage" is done so-to-speak.

Just remember, the NYT is financially unstable and have a reputation of reporters making up and sensationalizing stories. That's all I need to know.
