Pete Thamel calls Fulmer a rube...

Here's the $15 million question lingering over Virginia Tech

"The ultimate issue facing Fuente potentially coming off back-to-back flops is that it’ll be difficult to lure a high-end replacement for Foster, as no million-dollar defensive coordinator will be eager to join a sinking ship.
(And VT AD Babcock isn’t a rube like Tennessee’s Phillip Fulmer, who hands out guaranteed three-year deals like they’re Halloween candy.)"

Remember that thread from last week, after the Florida loss, when someone posted another Pete Thamel hit piece? And someone people were saying "why all the hate for Pete Thamel?" Well here you have it. He takes every chance he can get to insult anyone related to Tennessee athletics. He LOVES taking shots at Fulmer, and Pruitt, and anything else related to us. He's a crappy excuse for a "journalist" whose entire playbook is to insult people in the sport, invent stories, and spread whatever crap he can make up to get traffic.

I will get slaughtered for this, but if Pruitt, who is Phil's guy, continues on this trajectory, rube will be beyond accurate.
Bull$hit! What coach, coordinator or otherwise, would come to UT for anything less than a three-year deal? That's the norm. I don't believe I've ever heard of a two-year head coaching contract deal being made.

Dang it

I was hoping Pruitt’s Tennessee contract would end this year.

We get it Pete, you don't like Fulmer.

Can't disagree that Fulmer hasn't appeared to be the sharpest knife in the drawer on what he has paid Pruitt and Chaney though.

Not sure who he thought he was bidding against for Pruitt and some fresh blood on offense could have done wonders for this program.

Slaughter, no way. But realistically I think the Pruitt hire by fulmer was way better than the last two hires. Now that doesn’t say much, but heading into this nobody doubted the fact Pruitt could recruit and that he was a football coach. Now head coach? We are going to see how the rest of this year unfolds but I don’t think that was anything but a low blow to fulmer by Thamel. Whatever makes him feel better I guess.

I’m sorry but I haven’t seen it yet. At this point (16 games) with Dooley I was concerned about injuries but when he had a healthy team he was competitive. With Butch, I felt he’d shown progress and was building. Neither guy had shown to me at that point they were lost. Even my bama buddies can’t believe how bad Pruitt is.

Well, it's not as if sports journalism is the Siren beckoning our best and brightest youth. Journalists like this jackass produce less content --which is less carefully researched-- than many posters on Volnation do after they have worked a 40+ hour workweek. Seriously, what does a clown like this do all day?

Sorry I cannot forgive former for sabotaging the deal with Mike Leach. He also didn't want Les Miles. And from what I've seen so far it looks like he's made the worst higher in college football history.

Unfortunately Tennessee deserves everything they get right now. It's only natural people are going to make fun and criticized. We are an absolute dumpster fire that doesn't even look close to getting put out.

Always hated Tennessee. He’s the guy that broke “hostess gate”.
Pete Thamel is also most famous for being the Senior Sports Writer at "Sports Ilustrated" who wrote a glowing and sympathetic article in October of 2012 on then Notre Dame linebacker Mantei Te'o, which included details about a recently deceased girlfriend of his, supposedly named Lennay Kekua. However, Thamel failed to verify whether or not such a person ever even existed. She didn't.

He condemns himself with his own verbiage. To liken CPF to a rube says much more about Thamel than anything else. The righter of wrongs will soon set UT on the path to titles and trophies, a reality which we had grown oh so accustomed to under his wise tutelage.
