Pete Thamel: biggest losers = Tennessee

I saw this guy/clown on Finebaum yesterday & it was a total waste of my time. It's amazing to me how so many journalist want to keep attacking our fanbase because we are so passionate about our teams. So you want me to believe that Schiano would be a better option for us instead of Pruitt because Schiano turned Rutgers around. . . yeah, that makes sense. I guess Thamel had to get an article in before the Holidays. SMFH!!!! Anyway, I can't wait when CJP proves all his doubters wrong. Until then GBO!!!!

If Greg Schiano is such a great coach how come he is just a coordinator now and not some power 5 coach in the playoffs?

:detective:

Phil knows how to deligate. He won’t dictate action for CJP. You haven’t noticed we have a lot of problems elsewhere in our athletic programs.

It would’ve been nice at Phil had been able to hire Mullen. I think Florida was able to add a signing bonus or some other incentive because they’re not paying their former coach. Unfortunately we were not in the situation where we could do that. I think Pruitt was the next best option.

Has anybody seen Mullins contract?

Why? Was Currie's name on that, too?

Thamel, Sean McDonough, Mark Emmert, etc. ... butt-hurt yankees with Syracuse connections. When we beat em in '98, we scarred em for life, apparently.

p.s. Anybody know where Dan Wolken comes from/went to college?

thats what happens when your journalistic research is only twitter.

honestly I cna see how a person on the outside could see it that way. As far as other coaches that Currie had in the crosshairs his point stands on the more accomplished standpoint. Schiano as a head coach has only had abject failure on his resume. Even that has to be tempered.. he coached Tampa bay for a bit over a year and got 7-9 his first full season on a roster that shouldn't have expected much more. but it is his only stint as a HC so he does not have any resume of note for doing well there.

UT and Vols fan deserve a certain amount of scorn from the national media, this is a cluster F of our own making. But anyone that hasn't been hee should shut up and listen. We will rise. It is just a matter of time.

Dooley did enough to leave less than nothing. Butch Jones left a good base. The fact they are not here is proof they didn't belong. Honestly, I thought both deserved another year or 2. CBJ more than Dooley.

Calling Fulmer Overmatched was his biggest mistake. Phil Fulmer might not have what it takes to be an AD we don't know yet. But as far as ready to take on the Job, being aware of what it means to do said job at UT? I cannot think of a better person on the planet.

Wolken went to Vandy and was a beat writer for Memphis State before falling up to USA Today. He hates all of Memphis' and Vandy's perceived rivals: UT, Ole Miss, etc.

His bias is real apparent in his reporting.

Thanks. I thought it was from somewhere like that.

i'd rather lose than have that scumbag as ad. I can't even watch a basketball game witthout him hogging the spotlight. Fulmer's hubris caused the downfall of tennessee football. I don't think tennessee will ever win another championship until fulmer is pushing up orange daisies. I've been attending tennessee games for 40 years and graduated from ut, but i can't support an athletic department headed up by fulmer. He's as low as it gets.

The first real sign that the sportswriter is dead on or just wrong will be recruiting. Are the potential recruits excited about the change? Even if coaches don't get a lot of new interest this cycle, there should be a lot of energy around the program among recruits before the last signing period. It's the first and foremost sign that this is gonna work.

Bump, so far so good!

So far recruiting has almost been a miracle to go from ranked 60th to now 16th with only 12 days to work recruits.

The real test will come next year and the year after when Pruitt and our coaches have had a full year and 2 years to watch film more closely and see how the kids come along in their Jr and Sr years and to seriously get to know the kids and their family to build more solid relationships.

Our coaches know the X's and O's but now they have to bring in the Jimmys and Joes.

If we can't WIN the recruiting wars then it'll be much harder to WIN on the field.

Switching to the 3-4 D will make it even harder and will take a few more years longer because we must recruit the exact type of players for each specific position on the D.

From what I've seen so far, I believe we have the right coaches to get us back on top if we give them time and don't run them off too early.

VFL...GBO!!!

Let's just cut-and-paste some of early 2013's greatest hits: "Butch gets it." "I believe Butch is the man," etc. Nobody knows anything that would back up these assertions. Pruitt is truly untested, no data points as a head coach. Butch was obviously missing a chromosome from Day One. At least that doesn't seem to be the problem this time, but we don't even know that yet.

Dude you have one message, and it sucks. Why don't you go away and come back when you are right?

Lost credibility citing Schiano.

That guy was going to be a disaster hire.

Don't disagree with the Fulmer comments and certainly not sold on Pruitt though.

The same arguments used against Schiano not being in demand goes double for Fulmer since he has been out of the game much longer.

Only at TN could a coaching hire turn into such a soap opera.
