By all accounts his military service was exemplary.

But then he injected himself into culture wars, for no reason other than self promotion. He went from dutiful soldier to politician and tv personality.

He'll probably be fine. But I wish we'd stop exaggerating how many transgender ppl and the like actually affect anything. It's such a tiny problem in the scheme of things.
Then why has it gotten such attention from this administration?

Yes. What is it that has upset you?

Nothing in particular. Just don't like people on EITHER SIDE who base their appeal on narrow points or biases.

Was very put off for example by Harris making her campaign so much based in racial politics. Or any Dem who ran primarily based on appeal to gays.

I realize all politicians do it. Doesn't mean I have to respect it.

Hickory Hollow Mall had nothing to do with the "instead of theme park" that was Opry mills

Hickory Hollow Mall was open for close to 20 before Opryland shut down
True that.,, and I still hate Opry Mills on principle to this day, I think I’ve been twice… whereas with Opryland, we always got season passes

It speaks to a much larger problem. A thought process and culture problem within the military

Does it speak to the problem in a causal way?

To me, the problem is our entire approach to foreign policy. The role of the military isn't really to defend America, it's to defend specific interests and to police the world. We're not losing wars because of a weak military that has transgender politics sprinkled in. We're ****ed because our nature is to misuse our power and resources.

We can get trans people out of the military, and the real problems that have existed since JFK will remain.

Talking about civil war is a tad bit worrisome

Let's be clear, almost anybody who would ever be nominated by either party is a problem for me.

You think he's going against Lockheed Martin? LOL

You think simply having military experience, ivy league degrees, and being a guard at Gitmo mean anything regarding how good he will be? I do not.

You know...

We've tried the "normal" way each and every time prior to this. Either it's been a retired Flag Officer or a MIC bureaucrat that's been within the system for decades. And what did we get?

Billions if not trillions of dollars unaccounted for in the budget. Wasteful spending. Corruption in both government officials and private sector employees. Useless wars.

And ultimately, dead Americans in a faraway land most people couldn't find on a globe if they tried...

Might as well try something different this time.

There's a lot of frustration with the "normal way," but there's risk in just abject junking of that in favor of chaos by unqualified people.

Unfortunately, it's a pretty black and white issue. You either bring in someone completely outside the system that might be seen as "unqualified" by those in that system already. Or you continue the status quo by bringing in someone within the system that won't change a thing.

The Hegseth pick was unusual (I would have preferred Gabbard personally) but I think it's going to greatly depend on who he surrounds himself with. And who the CJCS is. That will be the big deciding factor.

The Biden regime went out of their way to appoint transgender ppl…..they took a knee to the “exaggerating of trans ppl”

If they had not done that you wouldn’t be seeing the pushback you are now.

I'm very skeptical that a regular correspondent on Fox News will prove to be anything other than the status quo.

The reality is the guy is probably just a Trump loyalist and he'll carry water, and that's about it.
