Out of all the people on this forum to start a thread about our upcoming game and no linger on the Florida game, it was a gator fan. WTF. Not knocking you but does that not seem a little backwards?

Sorry to be mean to you. All these other gators hanging out on here are unemployed bums. Did you know that if you head on over to gatorsports.com, you can discuss your upcoming big game against Kensucky with Ox E. Moron? That is far more exciting than hanging around here in the smothering ashes.

Well... I sorta like UT football also. :eek:hmy: I've said the reason why here a couple of times. Don't get me wrong. When we play, I want to destroy the Vols. Every other Saturday, I want to see you win. If the Gators don't win the east, I'd like to see Tennessee win.

FriendlyGator, I hope you stick around here because you are able to move on and think rationally much better than my fellow fans. I have a best friend that is a born and raised die hard Alabama fan that acts towards UT in a similar fashion. I love reasonable analysis from outside sources

I personally think that we beat UGa & USC. We have had injuries or an in experienced team each of the times that UGA & USC has beaten us lately.
This year we are healthy and we beat them. USC 2010 Sims is the q.b. USC 2011 Worley is the Q.B.
UGA 2010 SIms is the q.b. UGA 2011, Bray is injured and Worley takes over.

They got blown out by UCF, lost to FIU in OT and destroyed Morgan State. Let's look at the UCF game as that will be the closest comparison to your Vols squad. Akron allowed ~55% 3rd down efficiency against a high powered offense. UCF only threw the ball 19 times (14 completions) for 9.5 yards per catch. Akron allowed 206 yards rushing on 46 attempts. UCF continually had short fields since Akron turned the ball over 4 times in the game (3 fumbles, 1 INT).

Offensively, they are averaging 39.3 points per game, but with a decent defense (again, looking at UCF), they only were able to score 14. Akron is very pass happy. Against UCF, they passed 54 times (31 completions at 4.7 ypc) and ran the ball 27 times for only 69 yards.

As I said, Tennessee will get all their frustrations out against a mediocre Akron team from the Mid-American conference. Both Bray and Neal will have field days in this game, and UT should be able to put up 60+ points on this team. Defensively, UT is lightyears better than UCF. I can still see Akron putting up 14 points, but against your second team. Look for your second string QB to get a lot of playing time, and Neal to get the ball more in the first half. Your strength is obviously in your passing attack, but Neal is no slouch at all. Hopefully, he is utilized more from here on out.

I would have liked to see some of the pent up frustration of losing 7 in a row to your gators manifest it's self into a scoring frenzy in the second hald of last saturday's games...

beating up on schools were suppose to win, isn't a sign of improvement

There were a few of these lower tier teams last season that you struggled to beat. I'd say beating up on Akron would definitely show signs of improvement.

This game will tell a lot about the rest of the season. If they come out flat and sluggish look for it to be similar to last season. If they come out with a chip on there shoulder, that leave some hope for the rest of the year.

I think the team comes out flat.

I think we are going to see what is going to happen to our team over the next month this Saturday. Either we come out focused and ready to move on (a sign that our staff has control of our team) or we come out flat and get pulverized during October.

At this point, SEC games are all that matters. We've already shown that we can beat up on cupcakes, so pounding Akron at home wouldn't be any sort of corner-turner.

Beating UF, UGA, UA or SCAR-- that's what would inspire confidence. Beating MSU decisively would also show spunk, since Cowbell Stadium is a hostile venue.

there is no way akron can match up with UT's size and speed. This game will get ugly early in a UT blowout.
