Personal question - Mike Keith

His "schtick" is very close to John Ward's. Go back and listen to older broadcasts with the legend and see if you do not detect very similar patterns in the delivery. Someone should create a poll about who does and does not like Moke Keith. Finally, why does it matter if he keeps his hands in his pockets? I am sure most have a trait that others might feel is different or odd.
What's different, though, is Ward conveyed the excitement on the field while simultaneously telling the story of the game to the listener in vivid detail.

When I listen to Keith I often have a hard time understanding what is happening on the field beyond the bullet points of First Down!!! Touch Down!!! Sack!!!!

I dont have that issue. If you watch the game out of sync, like I have been required to due to the broadcasts being outbound phase, you will se his description is pretty close to what you will see on the broadcast. I accept your feelings on the matter, I just see it differently.

He learned his "schtick" from Mr. Ward, so that tracks.
I agree. I loved John Ward's and got to talk to him several times due to my time in the Pride. His way of telling the story of the game was very unique. Whobelse would count down the receiver's path to the endzone in a way that by the time the player scores, the extra point has already been kicked? Mike Keith does the same thing.

The way he did the Titans games was similar, but not quite as over-the-top. Back here, it feels like he is playing the part of a cartoon character version of John Ward. It is certainly more exciting than what Bob brought to the table, but I don’t find it to be the perfection that many people do. Maybe like an 80% version of what we’re getting would be slightly better.

And over time he very well may tone it down a bit. Bob Kesling really struggled early on. I believe Mike Keith is so excited about doing this job finally that he is uber energetic. Ramon Foster is very over the top as well. If you look at the interviews Mike does, the are very calm and collected. Let him get through the “breaking in phase” and hopefully a polished version of his style will rise to the surface.

I don't care about that nonsense, all I know is he is the closest thing to John Ward that we will ever listen to. I can listen to games on the radio again!

Kesling struggled his entire career. He would put you to sleep

Why do people on here hate Bob Kesling so much? John Ward retired when I was a teenager, so I don’t remember his voice. Bob Kesling was the voice of the Vols for as long as I can remember. To me he sounded like what a college football broadcaster should sound like. In case anyone is wondering, yes we do have stations over here in West Tennessee that broadcast Vols football games. I honestly don’t like Mike Keith’s voice or his over the top calls. I know this is an unpopular opinion on here and I will get bashed for it, but I really would like to know why everybody on here hates Bob Kesling so much.

I never noticed. But maybe that's just a habit he has. We all have at least one habit or quirk that may seem unusual to others.

I NEVER hated Bob Kesling. Honestly, John Ward was still THE GOAT as far as sports announcers go. And whoever UT would have hired would have huge shoes to fill. But Kesling did a great job as Ward's replacement, and I enjoyed his broadcasts. And I think that Mike Keith has done a really good job as Kesling's replacement.

Nobody hates him, he was just bad, he was so boring. I listened to John Ward many years, Mike Keith is much better than Bob Kesling. I'm from West Tennessee too

No offence, but Kesling did not do a great job, he would put someone to sleep, boring.

IMO he didn’t give a good picture of what was happening on the field. He didn’t describe formations, tell how much time was on the clock and etc..
