Perhaps the Time has Come to Embrace the Program

Maybe we should just embrace the program and Coach Dooley and wait until the season is over to reevaluate the program and DD's status. Only suggest this for the players on the team now, future players, and the future of the Vol program. Thought?

Go Vols!

:gun: Embrace THIS!

I say YES to this.... I played college football and these kids put their heart and soul into the game, school and teammates. We should stand by them even though we are frustrated with the results of this season

If Dooley was truly caring about the program, he would leave one way or the other.

His employment here is no longer needed, and we need a coach who can better serve, well, everyone here.

I still want UT to win for all the reasons the OP highlighted, but the matter with Dooley is completely a separate issue.

I'll embrace a beautiful women or bottle of scotch but not the program. I'll follow and cheer my Vols but until Dooley is gone, embracing is reserved for other things.

I will always embrace our team. may have some disagreements with individuals involved with the team at times, but will not ever stop supporting the team as a whole 100%

It sets me back about 1000.00 to take my family to a game in Knoxville, counting tickets, rooms, food and transportation. To each his own, but I need to see a better product for that amount of money. It would be different if I had an hour drive to the game and was only out the price of the tickets but that's not the case.

Wife and I haven't been back since Kiffin

Waiting till the end of the season sounds nice when you think about it in a nice little naive vacuum, but in the real world other schools are already working the coaching market NOW and waiting till a pointless end will only cause you to hire another second-rate coach (with all the first-rate guys gone).

We have to live in the real world for once this time. I'm just hoping that Dave Hart is not as susceptible to getting snowed in an interview by a slick-talking shyster as Hamilton was...

I think it's pretty simple. IF Hart were to announce Dooley will not be returning in 2013, that stadium would be damn near full VS Mizzou and UK. Alot of fans are not going to show support and spend their cash IF the AD is not going to do the right thing. Why should the fans just fall in line and keep spending their cash if the AD is not going to give UT a chance to win? Make the call Hart, you will see the support.

So you and a couple hundred Dooley haters are going to make a huge difference in attendance? What if the players decide to pack it in since their coach is leaving? 3 years....lol. What big name coach do you hope to snag? All the talent will leave if Dooley is fired. Think Gruden or any "big name" coach will want a program with all the talent gone, knowing if he doesn't win the SEC in 2 years people will be calling for his head. SMH

Couple hundred? Maybe you missed the game VS Troy. How do you know the players want Dooley to return? Do you think the players feel they have a capable coach? How do you know all the talent would not choose to stay if Dooley were fired? Maybe they like the idea of actually winning some ball games? I would think the defensive guys would be seriously worried about their future and NFL chances if a coaching change is not made. How many millions of dollars could AJ or Curt lose because of the lack of coaching they are getting? There are different ways of looking at every situation. I see a trainwreck and call it as such. You can dig for excuses and reasons to keep a career losing coach. I just don't need to see anymore.

You fail to understand my point. I am undecided about Dooley. But if he leaves the talent will too. Would you stay and learn a new scheme for free? Or would you learn a new scheme for a paycheck? Our offense is the only thing clicking and I'm afraid if Dooley goes, so do they. Then who will want the coaching job? Knowing that they have 2 years to blow away the fans or they're going to be out on their ears?

My point is there is no proof saying any player would leave if a change was made. Your guessing. Not alot changes for a WR when it comes to running routes and catching the ball. How do you know the new HC would not retain Chaney? What about Graham? Pittman? Who knows who would stay or go. What I do know is anyone who is willing to go through another trainwreck of a season just to keep from a few guys going pro needs to rethink their outlook on UT football. Dooley hurts these kids chances at the next level more than he is helping them.

I sit in front of the Tv every game or listen to the radio on a drive cheering the Vols on. But when a game is not on I patiently patrol the websites looking for the long awaited Thread: IT'S OFFICIAL DOOLEY TO BE REPLACED BY __________!

Yeaup, waiting on the ESPN scroll.

So angry....I'm taking extra people this weekend BECAUSE the tickets will be less expensive! I'm going to enjoy the rest of the season...

And you're willing to make that bet. Not just the players hurting their pro stock, but UT losing a chance to get a better coach. Name 1 big name coach that you honestly think would take this job if they leave. Dooley stays 1 more year, no buy out. AD can really throw money at someone. I'm not so sure the big money boosters would write that buyout check at this point.

Im with you OP. Hart clearly isnt going to do or say anything until after the KY game, so we might as well not either. I hope we beat Missou, Vandy and exact a 60 point revenge on KY for Dooley and he gets his walking papers the next morning!

I'll gladly embrace the Program AND the Players but will not embrace dooley, sorry not gonna happen. he's made it so I can nolonger wear my UT gear with pride. Its because of his coaching that I get jokes and ridiculed and have nothing to defend myself or the team with.
Oh and nice try, trying to get everyone to embrace your beloved coach. You capatilized "Coach Dooley" and "DD" but did not show the same respect to the "players" a single time, GTFO with your rah rah dooley crap, he's a joke and turned the team into one too.

Um giving Dooley 1 more year would guarantee we don't land a good coach. We def would not have our only NFL talent, our Oline would be gone, and recruiting is below mediocre this year and will be worse next. No coach worth a darn would dare walk into that mess. He would get equal or worse talent than Dooley had and NOT have any room to make any immediate improvements.
Dooley has recruited horribly and his classes have been filled with overrated players and the proof is in the results. We also won't be getting any Top players in this class and yet again will fill out the class with 2-3* "diamonds in the rough". Next year will be even worse when we're performing even worse and dooley is almost certain to not return.
Oh and yes I know he's brought in CP and McCullers but thats all he ever does, gets 2or3 good players and then fills out with overrated rejects and 2-3*hopefuls. That crap won't work in the SEC when everyone else is filling up with top talent and only getting 2-4 'diamond in the rough" type players.

If I'm really honest:

1) Dooley's record stinks.

2) We do have some talent.

3) His leadership has been rocky this year. However, whatever was happening with Bray seems to be getting a smidge better.

4) Our running game has improved this year from its abysmal level last year.

5) Our offense is pretty dang stunning. Though I still hate the 3rd and bomb.

6) Our defense is crummy. It appears that CDD made a terrible hire in DCSS. If he could make an adjustment to finish the year by winning the final three and then can DCSS he may have a shot at proving that he deserves one more year. Is that my opinion? Not really, but that argument may be made.

In being honest, I have to say that Dooley has made some progress that isn't showing up in the record. We haven't really been blown out by anyone despite having a terrible defense. I wished he would get the D in shape. I think CDD is willing to make some gutsy calls and even some tough management decisions. If he can finish out the year with 3 wins and hammer out a decent bowl...I could be convinced he deserves one more year to improve the defense. If he doesn't, he's gone. However, I could also see him getting canned at the end of the year too.

However, somewhere in there finances has to play into it. I'm not privvy to enough information to know which way that ultimately goes.

We may as well because no amount of complaining is going to change anything. For me I wll just wait with a numb feeling and see what happens. I do want success for all UT players. So I expect the same performance without any hope for improvement and gave accepted that we will suck for many moons

What do you mean. Among Dooley's great stats are his recruiting 10 th in the SEC and that's about where we stand He is the sickiest suck that ever sucked

I really pity you and your total lack of knowledge my friend.

We now have about 18 to 20 future NFL players on our team and most of them came from CDD recruiting.

CDD only has 2 of HIS recruiting classes on the team as Sophs and Freshmen and he added some good players to our Junior class which is actually a laMe kiffScum class with Bray heading that class.

I'd really like to see you stand face to face with our really good players and tell them they suck and are total Losers.

Stone, Thomas, McCullers, Sentimore, Hunter, Patterson, Randolph, A J, Maggitt, McNeal, Howard, ect, ect, ect.

You're totally blinded to any of the good things CDD has done or the good players that are Vols because CDD talked them into wearing our Big Orange.

CDD may stay and he may get replaced but nothing anyone here says or does will mean anything.

Hating on coaches that did take on the task and have been busting their butts to do the best they can with the kids they have to work with is only proving how hateful and classless the so-called fans here on VN really are.

It's really childish and pathetic sine you all have ZERO to say about whatever happens and the decisions that AD Hart makes.

You are totally MEANINGLESS in the process of whatever happens or when it will happen.

I'll believe something whenever AD Hart stands before the press and makes a statement.

Nobody on here actually knows anything anyway.

CDD and his staff haven't won games like we all want but they also have NOT done anything to deserve the kind of childish hate and names they've been called on here either.

Many on here seriously need to grow up.

I'll always support my Vols and whoever the coaches are at the time.

If we get new coaches then I'll support them too because they are my Vols coaches.

VFL...GBO!!!
