Maybe they shouldn't have sleep walked in the first half, and actually come out with a sense of urgency, intensity, and focus for an entire game?
They played well for half that tournament. That's it. Terrible 2nd half against Colgate, terrible 2nd half against Iowa, and terrible 1st half and OT against Purdue.
Bball is a tournament sport.Last nights finish is the PERFECT EXAMPLE of why you can't judge a teams success on what happens in the tourney.
Just a complete travesty for the season to be decided on such a play.
You absolutely have to look at the entire body of work to judge a team.
Just stop stop stop the basketball is a tourney sport BS.
I do not think they are "damn" kids in anyway shape form or fashion. (if you are going to use profanity learn how and when to use it) I sometimes will resort to a "damn or hell or worse" but not as it refers to players.Hell no it doesn't take the hurt away. I literally am still sick to my stomach but not for myself. Those damn kids deserved better
The whole thing is bittersweet because the reality is that the tournament is what it is all about. Its why the one and dones at Kentucky, Duke, and North Carolina sometimes seem to kind of meander their way through the regular season, and then turn on the jets once they hit March. They know, everyone knows, its all about the tournament.
On the other hand, the Vols had a helluva run this season. Fun to watch and exciting. You just have to take the bad with the good, and there's no way around it.
Good post but here is my entire point.
Let's take Duke/UCF and Tenn/Purdue
Isn't it just plain dumb to call one team a "winner of significance" in Duke when UCF saw a tip in just barely stay out of the basket while calling Tennessee a tourney failure when an official blew a whistle that changed the outcome???
Then you don't know basketball.Last nights finish is the PERFECT EXAMPLE of why you can't judge a teams success on what happens in the tourney.
Just a complete travesty for the season to be decided on such a play.

Just stop stop stop the basketball is a tourney sport BS.
So where does the basketball is a tourney sport genius like yourself draw the line of "significance"???
Winning 31 games was meaningless I see
Beating Kentucky in the SEC tourney didn't measure up I see.
Making the sweet 16 didn't measure up I see.
I guess it was Natty or bust
If you don’t like the tournament or playoff format that has employed North American sports.
They were a preseason top 10 team. They didn’t win a conference title. They didn’t get to the Final Four. Hell, didn’t even get to the Elite Eight. How can you honestly sit back and say “yup great season UT achieved all their goals.”
Wtf are you talking about???
Never said I didn't love the tourney but I'll tell what it doesn't do. It doesn't Insure the best teams play longer. It's great entertainment and it's a great event for that reason but it isn't the best way to find the best 4 teams.
You're thinking too small. If achieving all their goals is a measure of success or failure then we have alot of failures walking around here.
