I was listening to the Swain and Rucker show this afternoon at work. Rucker took over as Swain simply said he doesn't care to speak of the Rogers issue, Rogers is done and he is glad. Rucker said he was a cancer and it was a failed drug test and he was told by coaching staff that he would have to sit out the NC State game. Following that decision, Rogers decided to blow up on the coaches and that's where they cut the rope and let him go. Rucker and Swain said that Rogers does not make this team and this team will be absolutely fine without him. They said extra baggage is never good and to all the haters, drop it, because now the team chemistry can flow nicely. They also mentioned that this team reminds them of the 2007 team which played for an SEC title.

This has no bearing on the original post, but I would like to express that I believe Wes Rucker to be a functional retard.

I do think we are a better team without Da' Distraction. I also think the coaches, and to an extent, the players have prepared for not having a starter available for any particular game. Does it change our Offense...sure...but as we saw in 98, team chemistry accounts for at least 3 wins...see Syracuse, Florida and Arkansas

Hold that thought, Rucker and Swain. We'll revisit it after the NCSU game and see how that flowing team chemistry translates to the scoreboard.

I probably have a different definition of "absolutely fine."

Thx for the info. If this is true, I hope this situation makes him a little more humble for his future's sake. If he failed a drug test and all they were going to give was a 1 game suspension, he should have been grateful instead of "blowing" up....Something just doesn't add up, but who cares at this point...It's done, moving on now. Good luck DR...

Since Knoxville media is never right about anything, I'm not sure what to think about that.

Rucker is basing everything on hearsay. His article on 247 today states such. The fact he's getting on a radio show and implying that it's now fact is just stupid. Let's just wait until Monday when there will be an official announcement.

I said it yesterday and I'll say it today...if the drug test was failed and the results have been known awhile, DR should have been told at the time the results were known. Waiting until the week before the game, after camp is compete, isnt right. You dont disclipine someone weeks or months after they mess up. You deal with it then.

Of course, if DR had known he was suspended, then he'd probably transferred. Maybe Dools didnt want to lose the guy so he sat on the results until he couldnt sit on them anymore.

Im glad DR is gone for good but if the results have been known awhile, Dooley didnt handle this right IMO.

@MrSEC: J. Jackson booted after UT Kickoff BBQ '11. D. Rogers suspended after Kickoff BBQ '12. B. Pearl BBQ led to NCAA woes. Vols shouldn't BBQ.

Throw enough darts, one will hit. He has made a career out of bashing other journalists and spewing controversy just to boost his twitter numbers. When it boils down to it, he is an entertainer, not a journalist.

You don't do this a week before gameday, especially if it's been known for some time. Serious lack of control and use of brain power on somebody's part IMO.
