Texas must not have filled their last LB slot, and now has offered Santos. He was their plan B. I hope he honors his pledge to us, but I like others won't feel comfortable until he signs. I feel about 75% he does stay with us, not his 99.9% statement last week.

It doesn't matter how Texas is doing. Kids who grow up and play football in the state of Texas usually dream of playing for them. There are exceptions of course, but in general, this is how things are.

Yeah--that's why Oklahoma cherry-picks the best talent from Texas and uses it to whip-der-arse every year...Don't know what Santos will do, but Mac Brown is turning into PFulmer...he'll be gone in a few yrs...

so Texas, top-5 in just about every historical category, isn't an elite program?

Yes they are an elite program in a state that always produces elite talent--but they've fallen off in the last few years while still signing very good players---Brown's day is gone with the sunset...

Mack looks like a sinking ship. Come to UT Santos

I think you're right, but sadly, it doesn't matter. Texas will hire the very best coach available. Who wouldn't want to be the HC at Texas?

Long story short, whoever succeeds Mack Brown will probably be better than Mack Brown.

Santos could have wanted to go to Texas from the beginning, but for some reason they either didn't want him or didn't have a spot for him. Remember, Texas fills their recruiting class early. So now it could be that something has opened up and they want him.

Stranger things have happened in the recruiting world.

He is a big Texas fan apparently. They just offered him and set up the visit recently. (Yesterday I think)

Texas showed up late to the dance. Let's hope that plays a key role here. Hopefully Dan O'Brien can help keep him at UT. Does anyone know who his lead recruiter was? Sirmon?

What has Texas done the last two years? At least we had younger players. Texas has had no excuse. There is about 5 or 6 teams in the SEC that could whip Texas.

Not much, but still more than Tennessee. Be careful about lobbing those stones, my friend.

Hopefully DS stays firm. If not then I wish him the best. We are building something here and players like Santos should want to be a part of the rise of the Vols.

Texas is the only school who could make Saban have to think about leaving Alabama.

In terms of cash.

Rivals has a prediction chart from 6 of thier writers on its front page right now. No Tennessee guys on there but a good read anyway. Florida states defensive haul is going to be scary as hell.
