Just more click bait for ESPN:good!:
I think ESPN actually did some math and every team has transfers. winning is a combination of Talent, Scheme / home advantage.
I think in the Eastern Conference you have three tiers of talent right now.
Tier One is Georgia they are closer to Alabama than anyone in the East. For this year, I would also put Auburn as Tier One.5 in talent.
Tier Two is Tennessee and Florida We have Four or Five star players who are competing for every position on Offense and Defense for a three star player to start they have to beat a highly ranked player out.
Tier Two.5 is South Carolina closer to TN and Fl than the members of Tier three
Tier Three is Mizz, Vandy, KY Three stars players are the norm.
The other element is coaching and scheme
Georgia is set here and has the clear advantage. South Carolina has an advantage here over TN and FL. The Vols are changing their defense from a 4 3 to a 3 4 and we can expect some growing pains, and we are switching from option to a pro style. FL will have similar pains but not quite as radical on both sides.
Of the lower tier teams they are all more set than TN on Coaching and Scheme.
We play at GA, Auburn, SC and Vandy. The above in consideration this mostly means a difference for SC and Auburn. who are close to talent and more set schemes than TN
So to me it would be an upset for this year if we pull of a wins against GA, Auburn and SC. I would say Florida is a toss up and W. Virginia we should be slight favorites with better talent and at home. We should also be slight favorites with KY and Mizz at home. Lets say we should win at least two or three SEC games this year. Finishing third in the East.
So I think it is reasonable by the numbers to expect 7 wins this year. Once scheme is in place next year and if we can raise the talent faster than FL - which is a challenge we hopefully start to compete for the East
