Per Brice

Exactly! He had a top 5 class and had played in the SEC Championship game the year prior. Firing him was short-sighted and ridiculous. The AD thought Kiffin was going to be a long-term answer for a short-term issue. We have witnessed how that worked out!

Based on similar comments I did some research on what became of that class a few years ago, tracking down the fate of all our commitments as of his firing. Suffice it to say, most were busts who had little or no impact in college wherever they ended up. Nobody knows what they would've accomplished at UT, of course, but on the whole they turned out to be a less-than-impressive bunch.

Does anyone really think Petersen would even entretain the idea of coaching at Tennessee? I dont. I think we have a much better shot at landing Gruden. And we have about a .000001% of landing Gruden.

I think the chances are slim, but if he's willing to talk, at least there is a chance worth taking.

Tajh Boyd sends his regards! Do you have any idea what our offense would have looked like with him instead of what we actually had?

You are definitely entitled to your opinion.

2008 and the non-development of Crompton or any other quarterback for that matter told the tale. Believe me, I love what Fulmer did in the 90’s, but his time passed quickly in the 2000’s once the SEC coaching wars started heating up. It is what it is.

Agreed. I just dont think he will even entertain an interview. Unless, Fulmer has some kind of previous friendship with him. I hope I am wrong.

If you offer 2.5-3 times their current salary, he’d have to entertain it.

I don’t think Peterson would ever come to Tennessee based on what he’s said in the past. He’s a Scientologist and afraid he would never be accepted in the south. He’s probably correct...

Peterson, Myles, Kiffen, and Haslems

So finishing 12th in the country with a 10-4 record in 2007 was a sign that his time had passed?

He was impotent without Cutcliffe. It was painfully obvious. Most people wanted him gone. Losing to Wyoming was ridiculous.

What happens in 2008 without Cut? Let’s not forget that. Go back and watch that god awful performance against auburn. Hands down the worst football game I’ve ever watched.

He's talking about the 2009 class. Fulmer had both Tajh Boyd and Bryce Petty committed.

2008 class was bad because Cutcliffe, Roper and Luke went to Duke.

2006 class was bad because Sanders and Washington were fired.

And Fulmer as fired because his recruiting slipped and his team's floundered because of that and poor replacements for departing coaches. Oh, and Fulmer never sealed the deal with Petty or Boyd. Why is he getting some retroactive credit for that?

There is no excuse for 2008. I still think they jumped the gun on Fulmer, and I always will. The man had proved he could win at the highest lest. That season should not have been the end of his career. I believe with him and Clawson, year 2 would have been much better especially with Boyd coming.

No. You're clueless, which means your "reality" is a fantasy.

Well everything I have said thus far has been true so who now is the clueless one?....Wait don't answer that...Better to keep quiet and keep everyone in suspense than to speak and remove all doubt.

I'm just thrilled names like Petersen are open to talking to Phil, you have to admit that shows how good the job "can be" versus how the job has been dragged through the mud by the previous regime and portrayed in the mainstream media.

And who says Petersen has agreed to talk to Phil? Link.

He’s at Washington and plays at 1000 pm for most of America. Just shut up. That’s his whole point of being dissatisfied at Washington from his mouth. You are starting to be annoyingly stupid.
