Pepperdine Coach Vance Walberg resigned today for what he and Athletic Director John Watson called family reasons, although Pepperdine recently questioned basketball players about Walberg's treatment of them and also reported minor NCAA violations in the program.
Watson said Walberg had made "mistakes in judgment" that included derogatory remarks toward players and last season made a player leave the court and suck his thumb during practice for acting like "a baby."
Watson called that situation "inappropriate" but said he did not believe Walberg's actions rose to the level of abuse and said he had not been facing action by the school.
"Vance said he is dealing with family issues and he simply couldn't deal with both," Watson said. "I can assure you part of his frustration was bringing the team together."
Just a guess: Derek Kellogg or John Robic get a head coaching job in the offseason and Walberg replaces them at Memphis or someone in the NBA brings him in as a player development guy.

Seriously, could you stay on topic? A thread about Pepperdine's coach is no place for you to just drop in and mention you're excited about the biggest game of the year.
As for Walberg, I bet he took his basketball philosophy out on his players. Attack attack skip attack attack.
