b. brown is not a big deal.

let's say he's an all conference back. what difference does it make? hardesty was an all conference type back.

you need an o-line, defensive front seven, and a qb.

umm it makes a big difference. Without MH last year would have been pretty miserable. The others are needed but to say an all-conf back doesn't make a difference is crazy

you'll take an all-conference player at any position when you can get 'em.

the point is that tennessee has other spots on the team that are more important to the success of the team that are lacking.

would you rather have bryce brown or an all-conference qb, left tackle, d-tackle, etc, etc, etc?

i must not be making my point clearly enough.

to put it differently.....i don't think having brown on your roster effects your win-loss total in 2010.

other problems need to be addressed and if they aren't, having him on the team won't matter much.

To say that someone who is not 100 percent all Vol will not give their 100 percent effort is laughable. There are many motivations for kids coming to UT to play football and not all of them are because they bleed orange.

Half of the people on this board saying "good riddance" to BB are the same ones that couldn't understand why we picked up ANOTHER running back. Go figure.

I saw nothing from ole Bryce last year to make me think he was anything special. Poole looked stronger and faster.

How do you know this from a handful of carries? We saw glimpses of what he could do like when he caught the swing pass for a touchdown and no one gained ground on him. He also seems like a well-mannered perfect representative for Tennessee off the field. I want him back and I believe the hype. Look at his measureables. This Vol 'til you die crap is getting ridiculous. These players will be Vols 'til they die when they finish their work here and see the passion in the fans. We have to recruit a whole lot of people that grew up rooting for other teams. If we didn't our team would look like ETSU.

Brett Favre's many returns may be due to him not being able to remember large chunks of his career... He's lived with an almost perpetual concussion.

Brown just has to learn how to take the contact... like Hardesty finally did.

How many players left the program when Kiffin came in, like 12, part of the depth problem is all the players that left when Kiffin came aboard. So far with Dooley we have lost BB, one player, who really showed only that he was a mediocre back last year. Yes, I know if was hurt, but other than running over a db for Western Kentucky, what play did you see that makes you all think the sky is falling for Brown transferring. A lot of high ranked, talented backs have come through Tennessee and done nothing in their career. I don't like to see anyone transfer either, but I felt last year, that Oku showed a passion and aggression in his running, much more than Brown did. Everyone would have been pumped last year if we had only signed Oku, but because Brown was the overall number, the sky is falling now that he is leaving. Let's move on already.

He wants to be somewhere else, and is dealing with some personal issues. I don't wish Brown any ill will, but if he doesn't want to be here, we all need to move forward.

Brimfield left also.

I don't have much of a problem with at least some of the guys who left when CLK got there. Some were cancers. Some didn't have the work ethic. Some didn't have the talent/ability. Some were just personality differences... those are the ones who might have contributed.

Great post and I agree 100%. We, as fans, have no idea what BB's issues are, and bashing him now will in no way encourage him to come back to the team. We will be a better team with BB on it. Competition is always good.

I agree to the fact that BB is a great back with a huge upside, but I think that he did not show the best heart at times. Having BB here is only going to help the depth of the running back position, something you can't have too much of.

Although, him leaving helps to motivate Neal and Oku. More reps and more opportunity is going to make them better. I also think Poole is going to really surprise people this season. I belive that even with BB here Poole would have beat him out for the starting position and BB would be secondary. I am also predicting that Neal will be the next great back at Tennessee after Poole. He has great upside and a great mold for a back , just needs some fine tunning.

This is my first post, so its nice to be around vol fans as I live in Arkansas B/C of work.

There is nothing wrong with quitting something if it is not for you. In the end, Bryce Brown doesn't need to answer to the University of Tennessee, Volnation, or even you Todd Palin.

No one here is impressed by your so-called iron constitution.

As far as "keeping his word," Bryce Brown never promised to stay here for 4 years. By signing a letter of intent, he only promised to play here for 1 year, which he did. Therefore, your argument is ridiculous and self-righteous.
