Is it too soon to report that Phil and Gruden were seen having a lunch of schnitzel and brats at Restaurant Linderhoff?

He limited his option to schools that could win a championship. Smaller places wanted him. Phil has done more than coach. Check the full resume. For instance he just relaunched football at ETSU.

He was a CONSULTANT at ETSU. His involvement as a figurehead insured donations.

The thing that really scares me with Phil is that this is just a fluff hire for the fans and the big money will have even more control in the AD. The decisions of our big time boosters is what has put us where we are today. They'll always have input into the decisions but it would be nice to have someone in control with a little spine to encourage them to make the right decisions. If they're so hell bent on total control it's time to open the purse strings.

I disagree about the booster influence angle. Many of the Boosters didn't want Kiffin. Some didn't want Dooley. I'm sure there's some that didn't want Jones. Wasn't it our boosters who went and tried to make a deal with Gruden behind Hart's back? What a colossal f-up that would've been. The money people have skin in the game moreso than most any of us. They want to win just as badly. I don't think they're going to run Fulmer with puppet strings but even if they do, who cares? Maybe it'll work. I have more faith in them than I do in the eight year rebuilding project that we're in the middle of.

Witch Doctor always supported the firing of Fulmer after he got lazy...as a coach. I NEVER thought HE wanted this ...BUT if he REALLY REALLY wants it.. Witch Doctor say Phil has a lot of faults but the love of Tennessee isnt one. PLUS he would help with recruiting(behind the scenes of course)
Witch Doctor in, if Phil pursued it...

i have zero faith in anyone that has any real decision making power or influence up there.

they've done nothing of late to make me think they have any purpose behind what they're doing, other than their own self interests and ego driven prerogatives.

I'm more negative about Phil being AD than I am about Butch being coach.

Prepare for more negativity than you thought possible.

Even though boosters don't always agree on the path, they do want to win and so does CPF. No more outsiders. VFL ONLY!!!

Well if there was ever a time to try something like this I guess it's now. Likely Blackburn ends up somewhere else and has success though. Hopefully it's not an sec rival. I'm just hoping if Butch doesn't work out this will allow us to go and get someone really elite.

Especially in these days and times...imagine Saban's ability to go through the coaches he does. Talk about a carousel.
Not a bama fan....just thinking. I hope PF does bring some stability to all our programs. If he's hired...that is.
