Narduzzi had this to say about being an underdog at home and not getting "respect":

Pat Narduzzi rants about being home underdog to Tennessee: ‘We’re in the pee-wee league’

Meanwhile that "monster" league he plays in... saw one of its predicted championship competitors struggle with ECU... UNC should have lost to App St a week after not looking great vs FL A&M... L'ville was beaten by Syracuse... VT lost to ODU...

Does the guy really live in that kind of bubble that he doesn't understand why they're not seen on par with the SEC and Big 10?

Honestly, Narduzzi kinda has a point. Didn't they beat us, at home, last year. Not to mention they are a ranked underdog at their own place? I see where he is coming from. But the conference comment was kinda dumb

I mean we are ranked too.

I see where you're coming from and I don't necessarily disagree. The SEC is absolutely a tougher conference than the Big 10, but for the most part I think our Vols still have a ton to prove on a weekly basis. Again, the SEC is a tough conference, but we've been in the cellar, wondering in the wilderness in the East for the better part of 15 years now. Tennessee needs to make a statement in the game on Saturday in order to garner any sort of respect from a team that just won a conference championship. Just my insignificant opinion. I hope we embarrass them though!!!!

They DID beat us at our place, with a 7th year coach vs 1st year coach who wasn't even sure who his Qb was at that point and 2/3 of a roster........ all while he had probably the best Qb in the draft last year and definitely the best one at Pitt in a VERY LONG TIME.

Now we are ranked 24th in the AP poll, so the underdog thing shouldn't really be as big of a surprise or a knock on Pitt.

He doesn't have a point. Last year we came into the year as an SEC bottom feeder, they were the best the ACC had to offer and they should've lost by double digits.

But yet, the final score showed them in the win column, against an SEC team, on the road. He absolutely has a point.

He absolutely doesn't have a point. We weren't even a real SEC team at the time and you know it. We had a shredded roster and was coming off one of the worst seasons in school history. Its kinda like bragging about beating Vandy

Why does a coach care about the BETTING LINE. That’s what the spread is. Not some accumulation of analyst predictions Clownish at best.

Agree on NC State and VT being particularly embarrassing. NC State seems like the most overrated team preseason.

Don't agree on UNC. Not for homer reasons (I went to UNC); more that I think App State is actually good and UNC played them in Boone. Wouldn't read much into that one.

But I do think the ACC is being very overrated this year.

I think ASU is a very good program... and UNC still should have beaten them by 2 or 3 TD's.

Well agree to disagree. Was Pitt favored to win last year? Yes. Were they on the road? Yes. Did they go into a hostile SEC environment? Yes. Now the tables are turned, and now they are the underdog, even though they beat us last year, they are projected to compete for the ACC, are ranked, and have a nationally known defensive line.

Yes, Narduzzi has a point.

I'll say what I said in another post. A coach that has to resort to bulletin board material to motivate his #17 ranked, 1-0 team, in their 2nd game of the season should be a major alarm bell for a Pittsburg fan.

Being a 7 point underdog is based on the number and dollar amount of bets. It's simply the odds makers trying to cover their losses. It's nothing that Tennessee has stated.

He doesn't understand that the spread is all $ driven and based on bettor behavior...

And last year has little bearing on this year's teams. We beat them by 2 TD's if Hooker is the guy all camp and all game. We've got a legitimate Heisman hopeful and they just offloaded one.

Not exactly. UT was a shambles when Heupel showed up. They were in disarray from front to back and every corner of the building. He put a competitive team together in a hurry. Do you think Pitt faced the same team Mizzou or USCe did? Do you seriously think that the outcome would have been the same considering UT's improvement?

UT has a more talented team. Unlike last year, UT has the established returning QB. UT has an advantage at all of the offensive skill positions. Then... Pitt struggled with a middling Big 12 team. Pretty much everyone expects them to be around 6-6.
