Pearl Painted Up

Glad to hear that the PTI guys liked it. As far as TV sports talking heads go, Wilbon and Kornheiser are definitely the smartest guys in the room.

Look, guys, let's get a little perspective here. UT football draws 100,000+ to EVERY home game, rain or shine, win or lose, no matter who we're playing. Many of those people have no connection to the University whatsoever. Many of them, I would dare say, aren't exactly what you would call "football fans." So why do they go? Mob mentality. It's something to do. Lots of other people go. It's a festive atmosphere. It's not about school pride. It's not about the X's and O's. It's not even so much about winning or losing. A corollary: do you really think 250,000 people come to Boomsday every year because all 250,000 of them are fireworks enthusiasts?

the fireworks are really good though......:p

Mariotti hated it of course. He and Bayless are the biggest buffoons in the talking heads room Downtown is referring to.

I can see how people would not care one way or the other, but affirmatively dislike it? I can't see that.

apparently not. they all go because it's just a dandy old time. who cares if they are good or not? apparenlty they'll just show up if they open the doors, because the "atmosphere is good".

actually having a good product to watch is meaningless at florida. they just happen to be lucky that there are actually good teams to watch down there.

there'd apparently be 80,000+ at the swamp to watch the football team if they went 1-11 every year...and that would be fine.......no reason not to go....and it sure as hell isn't school pride.

I love going to Florida games, anything florida. Any chance I get at seeing them loose at any event is great.:)
