"The PTI guys usually get a kick out of Pearl, I bet they'll mention it tomorrow."
Good call...the PTI guys were applauding, although Wilbon doubted it would help recruiting.
Double danke. I just asked about this in another thread. The PTI and the Around the Horn guys all loved it. Pat Forde also wrote about him in an article. ESPN.com - COLUMNIST/FORDE - Forde Minutes: The body-by-Pat edition
the fireworks are really good though......Glad to hear that the PTI guys liked it. As far as TV sports talking heads go, Wilbon and Kornheiser are definitely the smartest guys in the room.
Look, guys, let's get a little perspective here. UT football draws 100,000+ to EVERY home game, rain or shine, win or lose, no matter who we're playing. Many of those people have no connection to the University whatsoever. Many of them, I would dare say, aren't exactly what you would call "football fans." So why do they go? Mob mentality. It's something to do. Lots of other people go. It's a festive atmosphere. It's not about school pride. It's not about the X's and O's. It's not even so much about winning or losing. A corollary: do you really think 250,000 people come to Boomsday every year because all 250,000 of them are fireworks enthusiasts?
apparently not. they all go because it's just a dandy old time. who cares if they are good or not? apparenlty they'll just show up if they open the doors, because the "atmosphere is good".
actually having a good product to watch is meaningless at florida. they just happen to be lucky that there are actually good teams to watch down there.
there'd apparently be 80,000+ at the swamp to watch the football team if they went 1-11 every year...and that would be fine.......no reason not to go....and it sure as hell isn't school pride.
