I was stationed there when they filmed it. It was interesting seeing Japanese zeroes circling Ford island again. Movie was terrible. Go Vols!
Well if it makes you feel any better they were most likely T-6 Texans. The US primary trainer in WWII. There are very very few Zeros still air worthy and after WWII you could literally walk on an air field, put down a paltry sum, and fly off in a near perfect condition Texan.
