Since BP has been at the reigns:

School record 31 game season
#1 ranked for first time in UT HISTORY
Back to Back Sweet 16
MADE THE NCAA EVERY YEAR
WON REG SEASON SEC CHAMPIONSHIP
4 20 Win Seasons
HAS WON MORE GAMES THAN ANY OTHER SEC COACH
HAS A WINNING RECORD AGAINST FLORIDA (NC)
RANKS IN THE TOP 5 ACTIVE COACH WINNING %
SEC RECORD IS 87-30
ATTENDANCE IS WAY UP
NCAA TOURNAMENT RECORD FOR CAREER: 23-14

For these reasons above, I believe Bruce should be our coach for a long time.

who would ever want him not to be, i can not believe this thread is even needed with all the energy he has pumped in to UT men's basketball. But I guess some in the VolNation are taking a early NCAA exit this year tough.

I wouldn't say Pearl achieved all of that as much as Lofton and J Smith did. They were THE best guard combo in the nation. I miss them so terribly much. :cray:

He may have recruited them but, he could not coach them at all. Which is why bruce came in and turned these guys into great players. I know everyone is dissapointed about this season and the way it turned out but, bruce is going to continue to bring in the players and we are still a very young team only one way to go and thats up.

I'm doubting that Bruce Pearl will get UT to the level that we all want, but I can't say that 4 years ago I wouldn't have taken this.

I would have agreed, had I believed that it were a sign of better things to come. Given our current limitations, I don't like where we sit.

We have a coach who has done way too much to consider asking him to leave (and I'm not), but appears to coach in a way that we have no chance of ever taking the step to truly title competitive. In essence, we're stuck with hoping the coach will change how he approaches coaching, which I find very unlikely.

If you're going to put he has a winning record against Florida, I'd also had to counter that with a losing record against Kentucky. And NCs aside, Kentucky is still our biggest basketball rival.

Since BP has been here, FL has been relevant on a national picture. UK has not. That is not to say UK, is no longer our biggest rival. Kinda similar to Bama and FL in football.

Kentucky is still the face of the conference to the rest of the nation. And the fact that they haven't been relevent as much kind of makes the losses worse IMHO.

...especially considering the fact that the Cats are a 4 seed in the NIT, and drilled us twice this year.

The good thing: Bruce Pearl owns Billy Donovan---that should not change next year. Uf will be down again, while UT should be better. Look for 2 more wins by UT.

And like I said...the bad thing, Billy Clyde owns Bruce Pearl. Assuming he's still there next season.

I'd much rather own Kentucky than Florida.

If we can get a decent point guard in along with the possibility Chism/Smith stays we will be S16 next year worst case scenario.

What has Kentucky won lately?? Nothing compared to Florida.

Like I said, to the rest of the nation and historically, Kentucky is still THE SEC. Kentucky still owns us and the fact that they've done so while being down and us being better should be a concern. Besides, Florida fans don't even care about basketball. It doesn't do a lot of good to brag when the other fans could give a crap.

We always have a losing record against Kentucky in basketball. It's jsut their way to get back at us after clobberknocking them in football EVERY year.
