@Orangeslice13 thank you for coming back to the more level headed individual that you have been during these discussions. The recent couple of days almost ended my association with VN. While your words in the beginning were aimed at someone that we both dislike in this discussion they soon began to reach a larger audience and take on a bigoted tone that I don't respect from anyone. We all have our own beliefs and disbeliefs. Or in some instances, we believe that you shouldn't believe. But to begin to push your belief system over some else's in a manner that includes some pretty ugly insults rubs me a little wrong. The recent convo's stretched beyond mere jabbing at another poster and took on a wider swath of insult. Nice to see this discussion back on a track of learning vs. insults.

@Orangeslice13 is that kind of guy when it comes to discussing faith. He has more of a clue about my beliefs than I do his since his kids go to a school associated with my chosen congregation. We've had good discussions in the past. He is always standup when discussing these things.

And I tend to agree up until the past few days. It got ugly and I saw things that I never thought that I would see.. Just kind of got to me is all. We back on even keel now.

I attacked a guy who lied to me in a private conversation as wittinessed by a 3rd party. I should have kept my attack narrowly tailored to that one person. I’m not sorry for anything that went his way. I do apologize for anything that struck unintended victims.

Although it seems others want this to continue so they can enjoy the show

The fact that you can't see that you were insulted nearly everyone on VN that identifies as a non-Jewish believer. The Jesus cartoons and Jebus comments were uncalled for and entirely unnecessary. If you can't see that there was a LOT of collateral damage to your attacks, I guess I can't say much more. There is no righteous indignation here. You have a right to believe what you choose to believe, but, you much like the atheists that exist on VN need to back the **** off the general attacks on Christians on this board. If you have an issue with one or two posters, aim that **** at them but stop making general statements. I don't see it as a "show". We very carefully try to avoid politics on this board and religious discussions based on you can believe this and you can't believe that need to go somewhere else.

Edit: That last statement goes both ways and I think the guy that is pointed at knows who he is. If he doesn't I will make that plain also.

I'll kick this one in gear for Slice to have a few days before he gets me.

I suggest that there is only one life decision you can make that shapes the afterlife. That is putting on the blood of Christ. Grace, after all, is the only factor that can reward you with an after life. That doesn't mean I can go chase tail and be a boozer, and such in life. All of which I could be forgiven for. But, it also means there are no good works that earn me anything as well. But, I must strive to live appropriately to the best of my ability and interpretation as to how God would wish. A lot of people live under the rule of works and deeds, which leads to alot of misconception about christianity (not religion). and causes alot of people to live under the burden of guilt. My sister is one of those. Being brought up in the CoC, I had to explore the concept of full grace and get past that hump. Although my mind still takes me there on occasion. Once you conquer grace, spiritual freedom is lovely.

It's really none of my business and I don't mid being told so. Slice is human and prone to mistakes as we all are. Chosen or inherited faiths don't protect us from that. But, his kids actually attend a CoC school in Chatty and he has no issues with what they teach. Unless things have recently changed for some reason. Point being something would have to have shifted pretty well for him to make general attacks on christians. Maybe (Hopefully) there were just some seriously escalated misunderstandings. You both have always seemed pretty stand up to me.

In a nutshell for those who wish to make christian life difficult, or dependent upon a bishop to explain it, only two true ideals were taught by Christ. Love/Accept him and share him with others. If you do those two things, 90% of the other things in scripture will fall in place. If it were difficult, there would have been more than 10 commandments. It was never meant to be an exclusive club. It was man's power egos that created alot of religion as we see it.
