Finebaum sucks, but i really hope it's not Morris. Wouid be a letdown.
I was expecting some good names to reemerge in our coaching search, but sadly they've only gotten worse. Football Scoop is saying Fulmer will likely pick from Morris, Steele, Miles, Tucker, and Venables. Woof. That's a terrible list outside the chance of a Miles/Tee combo. And I'm still pissed that Fulmer killed the Leach deal and it appears we are going to hire someone far inferior to Leach. It is also worrisome that he was ok with Doeren. The absolute floor should be Miles/Tee though. If we go the other routes than we are no better off if it would have been Currie picking the guy, not including Schiano lol.
'Glad somebody's making some sense here, Dudley. It's my belief that Venables is more comfortable as a DC, so a Clemson double-whammy is possible. Chad Morris is a very smart and innovative coach. His one HC stint's not a fair litmus test for him, even though he turned it into a competitive program is a very short time. Look back at his clever game-time adjustments, then dare somebody to compare him with Butch. My fave pick would be Cut or Les as HC with Tee as OC and Venables DC. If not Venables, then Steele followed by Chavis (definitely not higher than 3rd). With one of the elder HCs righting the ship, Tee or Venables/Steele/Chief could "work like heck" to be Phil's HC in waiting...once UT's football monster's back on its feet...or claws or hoofs or ???...as in back in the NC conversation.:twocents:Venables and Morris have resumes that are equal to or better than Kirby Smart and Lincoln Riley had when they were hired by two programs that were in far better shape than Tennessee has been for a while. Either of them could work very well for us. Hearing Morris might be able to bring in some old Clemson coaches that have Tennessee connections like Marion Hobby and/or pull Dan Brooks out of retirement.
