stupid for admitting violations. NCAA is inept and can't prove a he said, she said case. Best practice is to obfuscate a while then settle."

Thinks management had ulterior motive for falling on sword so swiftly.

of course they did. It's called how to fire a coach with cause and get out of a terrible contract.

TN did it to be able to fire Pruitt without having to pay any buyout. Why else would they pay big bucks
to bring in people to investigate themselves. Spend a little to save a lot. TN got exactly what they wanted
and so did the majority of the fans. Good riddance.
That's the thing they did the "right thing" so NCAA should not punish Tennessee but they will make a example out of us.

That pencil-necked ****** will do and say WHATEVER it takes to remain Bama's media bitch. Anyone with a brainstem can figure out that Pruitt is a Gump. Gumps cheat. Gumps LEARN to cheat in Gumpville. It's just too bad we can't waterboard that bald bastard until he rats that clap of a program out tp save his own worthless ass from a 10 year show cause.
Sounds like he thought he could just go back and work for Nick but it looks like his college coaching is over and he will try and make Tennessee pay for this.

I was surprised at how open the discussion at the press conference was--but you don't do that just to save $12M. In the scheme of things and over time, that's chump change.

I think they did it to try to show the NCAA they were taking it seriously and weren't just going to try to sweep it under the rug. UT is worried about sanctions further destroying the program and this was an attempt to minimize, at least to some extent, the sanctions that are coming. If that's true, the violations must be shocking and widespread.

It was a calculated decision. Primary factor was money. UT probably figured that it made more sense to suffer sanctions for a few seasons than face a buyout that they simply could not afford. Trying to choose the lesser of two evils
A bowl ban includes a reduction of the annual payout from the SEC. For 2019, that dropped Ole Miss' payout by about $9 million.

Just from that, a two year bowl ban will easily cost more that Pruitt and his staff buyouts

The was a case of seizing the right opportune moment.

UTAD needed a way out, scape goat...whatever you want to call it to get out of paying of Pruitt his buyout.

The recruiting violations presented it and they had their golden goose.

We know it... Pruitt knows it...etc

Anyway you color it.. it is what it is.

Pruitt should have kept a better watch on his staff..he didn't...they got busted..and since he is the head coach, he takes the fall with them.

I hate it for the guy personally but if these violations were as bad as people are saying, then there was no way he would have survived. (Unless his name is Nick Saban)

Losing didn't help his case, either.

I stopped reading after “Tennessee is stupid” and I agree.

Lmao...great post.

My apologies, 25 years active duty USAF, 6 plus as an Air Force civilian I often revert to work talk when typing. LIMFACS is short for limiting factors.

My Pappaw was 26yrs and retired a Master Sergeant...he passed away about 18 months ago still pissed that he never made Chief because back when he first joined and was stripeless his Sergeant gave him a crap review and he was passed over for promotion for the 1st and last time in his career. He loaded bombs on planes during the Korean War from the Philippines and was simply the best man Ive ever known.

My Dad passed also about a year ago, he was a full bird Colonel that also served 26 years active USAF then a few in the reserves. He was a great man also, and happier than I had ever seen him when he got wrecked by cancer. 9 weeks from a little spot on his back to funeral time. Never got out of the hospital. Not alive, anyway.

May God bless them both, as well as you and your family, brother.

Sadly this is true. Agree with all that you said. Good post.

Whether TN had an ulterior motive is irrelevant.

I will be surprised if we don’t settle the lawsuit. The Admin better have their ducks in a row or we will end up paying lawyer fees + settlement that is greater than 12M.

Question. Do you think the administration would of done this if Pruitt went 7 - 3 this year? Do you think they would of pursued expulsion or rolled the dice with the NCAA?
