Paul Finebaum: "Tennessee is...

It was a calculated decision. Primary factor was money. UT probably figured that it made more sense to suffer sanctions for a few seasons than face a buyout that they simply could not afford. Trying to choose the lesser of two evils
They knew it was time for a new coach, knew we werent going to any bowls anytime soon anyway and saw a path to fire Pruitt with cause.

That pencil-necked ****** will do and say WHATEVER it takes to remain Bama's media bitch. Anyone with a brainstem can figure out that Pruitt is a Gump. Gumps cheat. Gumps LEARN to cheat in Gumpville. It's just too bad we can't waterboard that bald bastard until he rats that clap of a program out tp save his own worthless ass from a 10 year show cause.

stupid for admitting violations. NCAA is inept and can't prove a he said, she said case. Best practice is to obfuscate a while then settle."

Thinks management had ulterior motive for falling on sword so swiftly.

This is what happens with a head coach who has somehow managed to be even worse at cheating than he is in running a football operation.

NCAA probation is a small price to pay to rid us of the death penalty that was Jeremy Pruitt.

Finebaum didnt actually say that. He was doing an on air interview with a reporter with the KNS (I forget his name, but he covers the Vols for them). At any rate he asked the guy several questions about this and that IRT the the firing and the investigation. One of them was, and I’m paraphrasing here “Did the Chancellor help or hurt the University in admitting Pruitt committed X amount of Level 1 violations.

There was some back and forth about the benefits and Limfacs then they started talking about Pruitt fighting the charges and show cause, to get hired somewhere else and try to get some buyout cash.

One more thing on this, the reporter stated the internal investigation started in Nov. The NCAA has been involved since Dec. I’m pretty sure this is contrary to what a lot of people on this site have said. At least I’ve read in several posts that the AA wasn’t involved. Just sharing what I heard a reporter say on live TV, TIFWIW.

He says that because he knows pruitt just did what Bama does but got caught at a place that won’t stand for it

UT would do the exact same thing as Bama if the football team was winning. Looks like we tried but got caught because the team/staff imploded. Crazy how quickly things went down hill after halftime of the Georgia game. The foundation was rotten, just took some blowout losses to make the whole thing crumble.

Paul was kissing Pruitts ass 6 months ago. He knows Bama has lost their replacement for Saban.

Jurmy, we barely knew ye. I hope they settle. If they can settle with Pearl, they can settle with him. Not a bad guy.
They will settle it!/ just a matter of how much, which depends how involved he was with the recruiting violations.

“Limfacs”? Not being a smartazz. I’m genuinely confused about what your phone did to you.

My apologies, 25 years active duty USAF, 6 plus as an Air Force civilian I often revert to work talk when typing. LIMFACS is short for limiting factors.
Got it!
My career was in the VA, and between the medical jargon and the federal-ese, I spent a lot of time deciphering. 👍🏻

Probably better than what it would have been during a 5-7 season next year.

I fear we'll be wishing one 5-7 season is all this mess is going to cost. We're still a deminished roster away from rock bottom. That's coming too.

TN did it to be able to fire Pruitt without having to pay any buyout. Why else would they pay big bucks
to bring in people to investigate themselves. Spend a little to save a lot. TN got exactly what they wanted
and so did the majority of the fans. Good riddance.

I agree and that is as dumb a move as could be imagined.

It all depends on the next HC hire. I hope Steele is not acting HC very long and just becomes a defensive coordinator or position coach.

Or maybe the guy sucked as a HC and the fact we knew dirty **** was going on and could save 12M.... If Pruitt knew how to be a HC and handle a QB situation and not be an arrogant dick he would still be the HC....

If our "big money boosters" can't afford a 12 million dollar buyout what good are they. Any super wealthy person made money during covid. Hey it's their money they can do what they want...but then they give up the right to act like bigshot decision makers. 12 mill is nothing to these people that we have to have major violations in order to get rid of the coach. Go ahead..keep your money...but stay out of UT business then.

If whoever leaked it to Plowman goes further with it after no response from the Chancellor? Then we’re in lack of institutional control territory where the big cash prizes are available! Pawwl talks out of that little hole that functions as his ass way too often! 😅
