Next week would have more viewers watching the Bama fans come apart, than just a buildup to the LSU-Bama game.
He said that because he's going to pull for Bama like always and every time he's asked, he gives a different reason. Or maybe it's just the worlds biggest coincidence.
I don't hate PF. But he is what he is.
Much easier to admit it and not care than to buy the cheap responses and justifications.

Here's what makes all that really funny.

His core of Bama callers have stopped watching/calling in protest. They say Paul has forgotten his roots--that his show has always been and should continue to be all about Bama, and that he's turned his back on them for ESPN money. Even the most rational Bama/Finebaum fan (there are a few) whines about the fact that he even addresses situations with other SEC teams that have no impact on Alabama. And God forbid that he picks a team to BEAT Bama--he gets the Kiffin treatment, burning couches and all.

And the rest of the Finebaum audience? They're ticked because he gives too much time and focus to--you guessed it. Alabama.

When put into that context, Finebaum's position really kind of sucks. He's making the effort to take the show from a strong regional footprint into a national viewership--something that is indescribably difficult when making the jump from radio to cable TV with a niche audience. He's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't, and right now I just feel a little sorry for the man. I know he checks out social media, and sees what his one-time favorite callers are saying about him online--and so when they call up all sugar and spice and bootlicking like they do, it's pretty darn nauseating.

He knows all of this and is probably paid decent. I wouldn't feel too bad.
Like I said, I know he pulls for Bama and I don't hate him because of it. I still watch his shows about as much as any others. I do wish ESPN had not given him such a long show in the middle of great viewing hours (for me).
Only because it is heavy on the Bama side no matter what their fans say.
Just watching him, I would never realize that LSU is leading the west. Their fans should really be the ones upset.

Yeah, I know. Still though--it's pretty disgusting to hear them whine about how he mistreats their precious team. Obviously, they only listen to 5% of the show.

So yeah--really need UT to win tomorrow. That will make my Monday call sooooooooooo much more fun.

He needs to decide who he wants to be. If he wants to host The Finebaum Bama Show, then okay. But it's the SEC Network, not the Bama Network. If he's going to rep the league, then he needs to stop being such a Bama suckup. McElroy, Marcus and Booger manage to be impartial-- or at least pretend to be on-air.

I was wondering there for a while if you were getting bumped because you would actually talk about TN. Then again I haven't heard Lance since Florida beat Ole Miss so you clearly aren't the only one. One thing I've noticed though since Marcus has come on the show is Paul has taken less calls while Marcus is there and Marcus can be long winded. Other than that though I like him.

This is the first I'm hearing about this protest other than IMan calling in and actually voicing it to Paul. The constant "how many beers" discussions with Larry are getting old. That man has a serious alcohol problem to say the least. I don't follow his crazy bama callers on social media but if you have a couple links I'd love to check out the comments.

Paul wouldn't implode he would antagonize the Bama faithful. He was making fun of the idiot auburn fan the other day cause their season is in the crapper. Paul tells it like it is which doesn't sit well with some people.

He won't outright implode, I exaggerate, but it'll definitely show if you're looking for it. I can promise you that if we somehow manage to win Monday's show will prove to be very interesting to say the least.

You're exactly right. He has been very even with all teams IMO. He has even talked about his show evolving from what it was. I really like his show. He treats his callers according to how THEY act when they call in.

An unbeaten bammer vs unbeaten LSU would be a much bigger game for his parent company and it isn't even close. PF is first and foremost a company man, make no mistake.

Alabama already lost bud.
Plus, they would just make the week about " will Alabama bounce back or is Nick Saban in trouble". Like they do every time they lose. The show has always focused more on Bama than any other team. He is a Bama fan and that's fine. He has really decent ratings even though most understand that he pulls for them.

He has never claimed to be unbiased and he's not doing anything wrong.I'm not sure why that's even an issue? If they lose, he will say very negative things about Saban for a couple of days, not because he is being unbiased but because he is like all of us. He gets angry when they lose. But honestly, if you choose to believe he's not a fan, it doesn't bother me but you should know, he has said it many,many times over his full career. And that's ok, all of the panelists pull for someone.

I just don't understand an alumnus who roots for the other team in a rivalry game. Your alma mater is your alma mater-- you don't change it like you change your shirt. Most UT alumni live somewhere else, but most don't turncoat their alma mater.
