Patience with Bray in 2011

Is 8-4 a reasonable expectation?

I think 6-6 or possibly 7-5 is more realistic. There will certainly be some improvement, but that improvement may not manifest itself into more wins in the coming season. Next year's schedule is going to be significantly more challenging than this year. Ole Miss rotates off and we pick up a road date with Arkansas in exchange. Also, Bama and UF will be on the road, and the UGA team that stomped us last year will be improved as well. We're still at least a year away from being able to run with the better teams in the SEC IMO.

*patients

Patients go to the doctor.

Patience is a virtue.

Sorry! Had to be "that guy". In all seriousness I don't think there is any question that Bray is the man next year. After a full year of studying film and being coached up, I think he will do fine next year.

Just beat florida please. Believe it or not there is alot of Florida fans in Jersey and most of them are friends of mine. Im the only Vol fan other then family that I know in the state of New Jersey and it sure would be nice to rub it in the gators fans face a little. However you guys are right it will take time. Im sure everyone on this board has it alot worse then me being that most are you are from Tenn and other states in the south. It sure would be sweet for these young vols to slam Muschumps gators in the swamp.

8-4 is reasonable. I'm not gonna say I expect it but I can definitely see it happen.

LSU is most likely a loss
Bama also, (who knows though?)
USClite will be a tough game to win, although it could honestly go either way
I expect to beat Florida next year. Yes, I said it.
Georgia will also be a tough game.
*edit* Arkansas will probably abuse our defense.

We'll win at least one of those. Book it. Possibly pull an upset or two.

I think we should be patient with the whole team and not just Bray. The team will still be young as a whole. I expect 7-8 wins in the regular season and hopefully a win in our bowl game to bump it up to 8 or 9 wins on the season. Next season will be like a rollercoaster, most likely we will be up and down throughout the season. Some games we will play and look like we can beat any team in the country whereas other games our youth will show. Just be patient with the players and coaches, and sooner rather than later we WILL be back on top.

The emotion that bray showed after the Nc game showed Passion and fellas its been a while since we've had passion. Talent is great to have, but if you don't have passion, the possession of talent will fall if that makes sence.

Talent and passion = Pocket Presents....Bray has got it.

We will be patient with the team. I was more referring to the idea that anytime a quarterback struggles and there is supposedly someone with talent on the bench, people immediately want a change. Happens everywhere. Plenty of moronic OSU fans I know think Braxton Miller is going to step in right away and dominate for years.

The OL got a lot of experience i do not see why they couldn't make a big jump. That will help our running and passing game. We have injected some more talent at the RB position, our secondary should be stronger. I am not gonna make any predictions but i see Tennessee finally looking like a team. We haven't looked like a team since 07.

Yeah tvolsfan I understand what you mean and it shouldnt be that way but sadly it is. Braxton Miller might be good, but he most likely will be like Pryor was as a freshman maybe a lil better maybe a little worse. But looking at their soft schedule it wouldnt surprise me if Miller went undefeated in those 5 games he will be playing in at the start the season.

The Bray/Worley discussion got me thinking about this. I know we're all excited about Bray, our QB situation in general, and many are optimistic for a future. That being said, I do think we need to be patient next year.

Bray looked good, but we need to keep in mind that:
a) his three top targets won't be returning
b) while talented, the offensive line will still be young
c) the running game still won't be the greatest
d) we'll play a lot of tough games early, especially some tough ones on the road

I hope everyone is patient and people don't immediately call for Worley to come in when Bray has some trouble. I don't see there being a real QB controversy at Tennessee, even if I expect fans to call for a change as soon as something goes wrong. In spite of problems he may have, I'm confident they will be fixed. The Vols should have a very good offense by the end of the year and especially in 2012. Just don't panic if there's a bit of a sophomore slump at first.

I'm glad you said it because I was thinking the same thing...Got to be patient with the kids next season...your gonna see some improvement but not as much early as you EXPECT...like you said Brays top 3 targets are not gonna be there so others will need to step up and take their place...And they will but give them time to adjust. :good!:

Bray will have no less than 250 ypg. but he needs to stop forcing things.
you could say the same thing about HOF type guys like Favre, Peyton, Marino, etc. All great QB's try to thread the needle at times, because they often can.

sadly I agree...I hope I'm wrong. I think our wide outs will be on fire. Just hope he makes the right reads

Wish he'd pump the brakes on the throat slash. What with the new touchdown-nullifying celebration penalties

i dont mind him showing emotion during the game... as long as there are no penalties assessed to the celebration

Thought it may be a good time to bump this thread.

Bray has looked even better than I expected through two games, but the sentiment behind my post stands.

Unless Bray just goes out and plays horribly.. I dont think people will be calling for a change anytime soon. By horribly I mean throwing a number of INTs and fumbling a few times.

We call that "pulling an Aaron Murray".
