Pathetic Loss

I would agree except we were up 12 in the second half and had them on their heels, and we stopped playing.

This team will make you pull your hair out. Just like most every freshmen-led team not named Kentucky.

Down 7 with 3 minutes to play in the 1st half, up 13 with 13 minutes to play, and lose by 11. They get up on teams and just completely fall apart, and it's happened numerous times this year. They forget what got them to that point and stop playing within the offense in favor of one-on-one ball and crappy shot selection. Defensively, they just stop hustling and rely on reaching in and general defensive laziness. All signs of inexperience and lack of focus/discipline at times.

Tonight was an opportunity for Hubbs to show up late in the game. Not having leaders on the court is only going to hurt worse going forward.

Can't close out games, fouling guys and letting them make layups, Hubbs complaining to the ref after a turnover while his guy makes a layup on the other end because he didn't get back, other team switches to a 1-3-1 and we act like we have never seen it before.

Some things are youth and some are effort/basketball IQ. This team makes too many fundamental mistakes that they shouldn't. Youth is not the only reason for them.
The players act timid/get upset for silly fouls. Barnes expects perfection almost to a flaw (or it seems on the outside). I saw Tennessee teammates getting in each others' face tonight which I hadn't seen before. Williams got in Bone's face bc Bone forced a bad foul; and later on Phillips chewed out Williams for what it looked like poor transition D.

In theory, it sounds like players holding each other accountable, but idk :(

Buzz and Wade were very nice to their players.

It was an ugly game on both of our performance and officiating. We couldn't close out the game but with a young team like ours, mistakes are going to happen. It is what it is and I'm already tired of stressing over it. Just move on and hope our team plays better in the next game.

That was one of the worst officiated games I have ever seen. Those 3 refs should be called into the SEC office and demoted to High School basketball this morning. They way they called phantom fouls never allowed either team to get into a flow. Ole Miss shot over 40 FT's! Ridiculous!

I'm not blaming it on the officiating because we sucked enough on our on to lose but these refs were as horrible we were and that was pretty damn bad.

Every humiliating loss like this just serves as a reminder that Barnes was run out of town at his previous gig for a reason.

They're really missing Fulkerson down low, especially last night when Williams got in foul trouble. Refs didn't make it any easier but we couldn't stop the bleeding when they went on that run.

But y'all seriously need to cool it, "need to get more out of the team" Barnes is coaching these players up. We took UNC to the wire in Chapel Hill, with a bunch of no names that he's getting plenty out of. Ole Miss was a bad loss but those happen. Hoping they learn from it.

Yes they do, but this team can't really afford to lose a game like last night. If we're actually going to be an NIT team, that's a must win last night.

I watched the game tonight and they got up and couldnt close it out. Its a young team and Barnes is a good coach. We will be fine in the future. I was disappointed in the lack of cohesion after that 19-1. They just quit playing and up 12 thought it was over. Give Ole Miss credit they never quit playing.

After the monster dunk from the OM player we looked like deer in the headlights. When you basically win with the 3 ball you are going to lose because you cannot hit it. I thought Turner was going to get on a roll but after hitting 2 in a row he missed the next and **** happened.

I thought the game turned sour late due to the officials. SEVERAL calls that would have pushed our advantage and stopped the Ole Miss comeback were blown. A couple of easy ones come to mind:

The football play when Davis (I think) put his shoulder into the gut of our player. That should have been a flagrant with him tossed from the game.

Evans was called for a foul on an Ole Miss inbounds when the other player actually extended his arm and shoved Evans

Plays like these changed the momentum of the game and which players should have even been on the floor for either team. This is the worst called game I have seen in a very long time.

The most Jekyll & Hyde team I've ever seen...not only game to game, but minute to minute! They can look so good, then look so bad!

I think last night clearly showed the caliber of player UT has on this team.

Butch Jones is quickly heading to the same mediocre level with the football team too.

to an awful, awful Ole Miss team. No excuse not to win this game. UT has the better team. Barnes has got to start getting more out of these guys.

Be very, very careful!!! The Barnes ball-lickers will be out in force to draw and quarter you!!

YES... this Ole Miss team is VERY limited. Their big DOMINATED our entire team.

Barnes is in charge of recruiting and his lack of size is inexcusable. Actually... it's laughable.

Yeah, that 6'10" guy he has committed is such a small guy.

Casual bball fans out in full force.

This loss is disappointing, but far from unexpected. We won't lose out, and we won't be dancing this year. We have to take our lumps with our successes. The sky is not falling yet.
