Paterno but not Coach Fulmer

As I seen where Coach Paterno was being inducted into the CFHOF, I wondered why Coach Fulmer has not had the same honor. Based on Coach Fulmer's record and longevity, his credentials are as good as anyone else.

Fulmer and Paterno don't belong in the same sentence, much less side by side in the HOF...

Haha! Good joke. I'm afraid, in the end, one of those two coaches you mentioned is a great candidate for the Hall of Shame.

You can insult me all day long, but if we lay claim to the SEC being the toughest conference and you look at Coach Fulmer's record, he should be considered. And yes I am new here but if a "Fulmerite" is for Coach Fulmer, then I am proud to be one.

it wasn't really an insult but you should take a look at the current HC's who are not in the CFHOF. There are quite a few who should go before him. And to compare CPF's record to JoPa's is just like I said, ridiculous.

JoePa is a living, walking, road rage infested legend. Coach Fullmer will never be a legend but should always be respected for what he has accomplished during his tenure at UT.

If fullmer was honored they would have to honor Saban, Spurrier, Miles, Stoops, mack Brown, and any other coach that has had decent success in a BCS conf and won 1 title.

It would be like Coopertown accepting anyone that has 1,000 hits.

Criteria for coach nominees
  1. The nominee must exhibit demonstrated citizenship, "carrying the ideals of football forward into his relations with his community and his fellow man with love of his country."
  2. The nominee must fit one of the following criteria:
    1. Be retired from coaching for at least three years
    2. Be at least 70 years old and retired
    3. Be at least 75 years old
  3. The nominee must have held a head coaching position at the collegiate level for at least ten years.
  4. The nominee must hold at least a .600 career record over the course of 100 games or more.
  5. The nominee must have ended his professional athletic coaching career prior to the time of the nomination.

Fulmer will end up in the CFHOF. He is a NC winner, has the best winning percentage of any coach with more than 10 yrs experience, and has won more than 100 games more than he's lost. Whether we think it is right is irrelevant. He'll end up there some day. But like Rasputin said (good lord, did I really just say that???) -- "Fulmer belongs in the Larry Coker/John Cooper wing of the CFHOF if he gets there."

Show me where the Phil is the winningest coach in college football history and has been the head coach at UT for the last 42 years and I'll agree with you that their credentials are the same.

This might be a better list of criteria straight from the horse's mouth (not Wikipedia).

5. A coach becomes eligible three years after retirement or immediately following retirement provided he is at least 70 years of age. Active coaches become eligible at 75 years of age. He must have been a head coach for a minimum of 10 years and coached at least 100 games with a .600 winning percentage*.
