I was watching The Paul Finebaum Show yesterday (I know, I know, before anyone starts in), and they showed a list of the top 10 viable candidates for the Tennessee job. Listed at #6 was Pat Narduzzi. I know he's the head coach at Pitt and was DC at Michigan State, but other than that, I don't know much about him. I don't have an opinion about him one way or the other, just looking for feedback.

The national media is really showing what they think of Tennessee these days. Mark Packer and Jonathan Vilma on espnu radio said yesterday that Tennessee needs an up and comer coordinator that can “grow into the position with good assistant coaches”. Meanwhile, they’re sure Kelly is headed to UF and Jimbo might be headed to A&M. Our national brand is in the toilet right now. Gotta nail this hire.

Not Narduzzi!
His name sounds yankee, not Southern. They can keep him.

(good a reason as any, eh?)

I cannot understand all the Gruden adulation.. As coach he barely has a .500 record. He won the Super Bowl with Dungy's players and Tampa went downhill with him at the helm. Has a .540 % record as a coach. Butch Jones has a .609 % record. Was .557% at Tennessee.

That is not improvement.

Noticed this as well.

Almost no chance the Vols land a big name according to most of the talking heads.

Honestly can't blame them given the quality of the last three morons this program has hired.

I'm not convinced on Gruden taking the job. But if he does being out of coaching so long he will lean heavy on his assistants and will let them coach. And he would be very selective on who he hires.

I think this would be the reason he is reaching out to find out what his potential staff could be. And if they are good enough to win while he adjusts to coaching 9 years with so many changes.

Could see him killing at recruiting to start tho

No... I'd rather have Norvell or Iowa State coach if we can't land our white whale.

Norvell's name is really coming up a lot from people close to the program.

I have always thought the most important job the AD has is to identify and hire new coaches, especially for big sports, football and mens basketball. I hope Norvell isn't his lead card to play.

Currie has never hired a football coach and appears to have fumbled his BB hire in Kansas St. Sounds like the perfect fit for Tennessee.

I think the focus is too much on "Big Name" saban wasn't a big name when he went to LSU, Jimbo wasn't either. We need to hire someone with solid FB experience. The reason why the last few up and comers didn't work because the hire was for everything except football. Get a coach who does football and only football. You don't see coaches at other top schools focusing on b.s. like orange carpet events, vfl programs, and grooming they focus on fb and couldn't care less about anything else

I really like Narduzzi. He is a good coach, but we can do better. Not a slight at him though.

Narduzzi is such a horrible coach that he didn't even run off Nathan Peterman.
Is that the same Nathan Peterman who will be the starting qb for the NFL's Buffalo Bills, beginning this Sunday? The same one who won the job based on his play coming in late in last week's game?
