Pat gets raise...........

Given that Nick Saban got his current contract on the open market, the answer is obviously yes.

C'mon man - there was no bidding war for Saban. He was offered a ridiculous amount of money by a band of crazy people under duress - that is far from an open market.

UT pays Pat her worth - maybe she could get her current salary on the open market, maybe not. Problem is, we'll never know.

There is absolutely no way that CPS would make over $1.25M at any other university (save UConn). No other women's basketball program brings in over $1.2M in ticket revenue. Hiring on a women's coach at over $1.45M, to potentially raise their ticket revenue to $1.3M or $1.4M would be an impossible sell to any Board of Trustees.

Enter Texas. When Gail wins the Big 12 next year, and advances deep in the tournament, she'll make well over a million next year. Her salary will increase steadily over the course of five years. Coach G leaves 'comfort zone': Texas signs coach to $1 million deal

Pat deserves every penny...

Quit comapring her to Pearl, she's been there 30 plus years, won a 7 National Championship's and been the foundation for Women's college Basketball.

Coach G is a great coach. If I would have to pick a coach (besides pat) to win the championship it would be her. I think she should of had atleast 3 already. 2 when Alana Beard played at Duke and I thought that they should have won it this year.

Let's see
UCONN
Texas
LSU
Florida
Stanford
and I can name a few more

Van Chancellor will not get $1.25 million. John Brady doesn't even get $1 million.

In spite of Goestenkors' new contract, Conradt only made $550,000 and Vivian Stringer (Rutgers) only makes $475,000.

Florida still hasn't hired a replacement for Carolyn Peck (I don't think), and they weren't to willing to go after Goestenkors (or pay that kind of money).

Geno only makes $988,000.

So essentially, you've named 2-4 teams out of 150+ Div-I basketball teams that would come close to $900,000...
