I'm pretty sure that WVU is ranked above Auburn right now. The game is only a couple weeks away and will give the loser plenty of time to climb up the polls. The loser of the SECCG, on the other hand, gets no time to move up.

Once WVU or Louisville loses, they will fall dramatically. It doesn't matter if it's a close game are not. Everyone is just waiting for them to falter. It wouldn't surprise me for a two loss Auburn, Florida, or even LSU to be higher than either of them. Based on UT's luck, they probably would remain ahead of a two-loss Vols team.

I would love for us to run the rest of the table, but all of this talk about us going to the Capital One or a BCS birth. Remember, we are playing SC next and they are playing there best football right now, and Spurrier always has always put out a good game against TN. We just struggled to beat a mediocre AL team. We wooped up on a very bad Georgia team and even struggled against them the first half. We struggled against AF. Our only complete win against a quality team was against California and now I suspect that could be a fluke. Ark could be the best team in the SEC right now and LSU has the talent to make us look rela bad if we are not on top of our game. In 3 weeks we could just as easily be 6-4 and destined for the toilet bowl. I think we will be very very fortunate to win two of our next three.

a nice dose of reality. but i think we should be able to win 2 of hte next three...i'm like you, i don't know that we will win out....but the possibility is much more likely now than it was two months ago. 10-2 is most likely...honetsly, i think we have a better chance of beating USC and LSU than i do beating ARK in ARK. ARK is a team that is built to beat teams like ours...good running game, solid D...they can keep our offense off the field.

but like i've been saying...if we don't turn the ball over, we can win any game we play.

Spurrier will have a good game plan for us and Newton has been playing great...against FL Atlantic, VAndy, KY etc...the only games they were tested in against a bad UGA team and Auburn...they folded on offense.

I can't give USC all kinds of props right now...if they beat us and the remaining SEC teams on their schedule....then props they will deserve. until then............

If both teams are 11-1 going in, the loser will get a BCS at large berth.

Hat, I think you are right about this, at least in the SECE. Assuming Florida wins out from here and is 11-1 going into SECCG, then even if they lose they probably land an at-large spot. Same for Auburn. Arkansas is iffy on that. But, if Florida wins out and so does UT, then I do think UT at least has a chance to overtake Florida in BCS and take the spot should Auburn prevail again.

Also a note that if Forde is right and you end regular season 10-2, I think all but the most spoiled of fans would consider that a major turnaround from last year.

10-2 at the end of the day would be considered a great turnaround....we'd have to dig up all those threads from June and July to prove it right now...but it would be.

as with every season, expectations get adjusted with performance.

and my 9-3 pre season pick, while certainly still possible, would now be a disappointment to me given how we've played and who we have left on the schedule. ARK is much more of a game than i even thought it would be, and it worried me before the season started. actually, now that i think about it...my opinion of the LSU and ARK games have basically flip flopped.

and yet, here we are, the next three games all looming...and while still being realistic....we do have a legit shot at being 11-1. And it's a whole lot more realistic than before the season started....and that's all you can ask for as a fan.

Okay, Cal beats USC-USC beats Notre Dame; WVU-UL-Rutgers play the round robin knock each other out game; Nebraska beats Texas in rematch at Big 12 Championship game; UT wins out and ARK beats UF in the SEC championship game; OSU-UM Winner plays UT in the BCS Championship game in Phoenix on January 8, 2007. That is my expectation. As it wins out, Tennessee passes Auburn in the BCS polls.
