Pat Forde Picks Vols to lose to Cincy

I have to admit that I'm more worried after looking over their offensive stats from week 1. I know that they were produced against a vastly inferior team, but that offense is clicking nicely...

So did cinci add any quality jucos or touted freshmen to help their defense this year?

Added 5th year transfer LB Ben Pooler. He was injury prone at Maryland but had 4 sacks in 2009.

UC's primary defensive problems last year were lack of overall depth and youth in the secondary which was partially caused by a rough training camp with more injuries added early in the season. Some of the players were forced to play 80+ snaps a game.

i watched the Cincy replay, and they're a good team ... it will be a very close game.

Only reason we're favored is because it's a home game, imo

7 pt favorites is more than just home advantage. If it was purely bc it's a home game it'd be more like 2.5

This is the 7th toughest game on our schedule: behind AL, LSU, Ark, FL, GA, SC. If we don't come ready to play Sat., it's going to be a bad loss to a good team. THe O-line needs to man-up and quit playing like a bunch of sissies! Fumble 6 times like we did against Montana (lucky to get them all back) and we will get hammered. Come on VOls, step it up a notch this week.

I don't mean to highjack the thread, but it bothers me that Craig James is involved in calling the game.

Pat Forde is a chump, always been a chump and always will be a chump and if Cinncy does happen to win it dam sure isn't gonna be because of that turd predicting it to happen.

While I have little respect for the "experts", we've had some disappointing seasons in very recent memory and our program's history has resulted in us being given the benefit of the doubt in games like this where a school doesn't play in the SEC or have near the same tradition of winning, last season was pretty much the end of that. How do you think a non-SEC team that didn't have our program's history would've been treated?

Now we have to prove ourselves and there's not a thing wrong with that, objectively speaking. It breaks my heart as a VOL that it's come to this but that's where we are and what we have to do to get it back.

I hate to cite Steve Spurrier but as he said referencing his own team, "right now, we're a bunch of overrated dudes" until we prove otherwise, only it's not the "experts" who are overrating us -- it's the fandom and we need to realize that.

Don't get me wrong, I think we're better than we've been in a while and see a lot more potential this year than I would've thought possible prior to the start of the season and our future beyond that is very bright but in the here and now we have to win to get our rightful place back as a perennial threat.

Forde used to write for the Courier-Journal in Louisville. Being around these Wildcats all those years has caused Vols envy. Nothing more...

I do think it will be a tough game if our guys don't come to play. Geez, please don't ruin my only trip to Neyland this year...

if we come to play we will win handily - if we don't we can lose to any team on our schedule

If we play well I just don't see any way they slow down our passing attack and keep us from putting a lot of points on the board

Nevermind.

No way we lose to Cincy. Our running game will come alive on Saturday and the defense will be better!

If Chaney goes pass, run, pass on first, second and third down in that order the Vols will be fine. Going run, run and then pass on 3rd down will put Tyler in bad situations. Throwing it first to get the defense out the box will help the running game and not vice versa. JMO
