Not quite sure what replay you watched. AP averaged 3.7 yards against the UC #1 D in the first half. They entire second half was played against the #2 and #3 defense. AP averaged 4.8 yards per play for the game.

As a frame of reference, Montana averaged 6.2 yards per play against the UT defense Saturday.

Could you score 50 on UC? Sure, if the offense turns the ball over 5 times. Otherwise, probably not.

Pead went 7/87 12.4 avg and 2tds.

Total Offensive yards 561 174 passing and 387 rushing; while allowing 277 from Austin Peay 150 passing and 127 rushing.

Just remember that Collaros and Pead put those stats playing solely in the first half. They played ZERO second half snaps, and that UC's starting defense played no second-half snaps, either. See my post above regarding the results the first-team defense produced in the first half.

Forde picked UAB to beat UT last season as well, which only goes to show how off his predictions are.

Btw, if Munchie gets into the game it could actually be a good thing or a bad thing, depends on your perspective and the reasons why he is in the game. I just want to hear the announcer say "Munchie" over the sound system.:pilot:

68 plays for 348 yards is 5 yards/play. Which is identical to the YPP that Cincinnati gave up to Austin Peay.




By the way, you don't count kickoff/punt return yards against the Defense as it isn't on the field when those yards are accrued.

I think we have proven that we can score a lot of points. Bray's passing was mostly top-notch and both Hunter and D. Rogers are long ball threats, and we didn't even throw many long passes against Montana. Mostly crossing patterns that the receivers broke for some big yardage and TD's. Also, with Lane and Fugate we have plenty of threats for big yardage and TD's.

The big question is going the defense. Our secondary looked out of sync and we really are going to miss JJ as that last safety valve. Hopefully we will get a better push on the line and be able get pressure on the QB and disrupt plays quicker. Also, our tackling looking good, however we did miss some tackles in space.

Finally, we cannot put the ball on the ground. If we put the ball on the ground 6 times again, we will probably lose the game.

Our fans are hardly ever that loud. Too many old people. I wish our fan base was more passionate when it comes to getting loud in the stadium. Last time I heard neyland really rocking was the california and south carolina games at our house and Ive been to alot of games.

He's not talking about his column, he's referring to himself:

Anyone that writes a sports column and refers to themselves in the the 3rd person doesn't deserve any credibility.

Except that Montana did that mostly against the UT first-team defense. UC's starters did not play the second half. The scout-team defense played the entire 4th quarter. Can you say the same? The UT first-team offense was still on the field on the next-to-last possession, so I don't think so.

And, by the way, I didn't count the kickoff/punt return yards. I grabbed UT's average per play instead of Montana's from your stats page for the game. Sorry for the confusion.

I will tell you this just like I tell the Florida trolls and the Montana ones... the fact that you are even here on our forums shows you do not have as much faith in your team as you let on..

I don't need to go to your boards and start talking smack because I have faith in my team to take care of business on Saturday. Our team won't overlook anyone this year because we have to much to prove.. to the country and to the SEC.. but sorry to tell you that the bearkittens are going home looking like ---> :cray:

The real question is why you have so much faith in our Vols.

Its one thing to be an orange tang drinking fan and another to be objective about your team. Face it we are not that good right now.

Incorrect. Montana had one drive of value against our first team defense. All other significant yards came on one 80 yard pass against our true freshman CB and against the backup defenders.

I am not sure you have been paying that much attention. Where did you get that I have faith in UC? Right now, what I have is hope and a lot of unanswered questions. Read my posts here - I have admitted our shortcomings and the questions about our team.

We didn't learn much other than our defense is more opportunistic than last year.

What puzzles me is that so many of your fans don't see the similarities between these two teams. UT and UC are both coming off sub-par seasons. Both teams have a lot of young talent that is not yet proven. Both teams have significant questions.

This game is going to be telling for both teams. We are both going to know more about how our season will look after this game. Good luck!! See you Saturday.

We are better than the team who finished 4-8 and had the worst defense in their pathetic league a season ago...cinci should stick with basketball and chili.

It's probably worse. They only put up 14 on Fresno St., 19 on NC State, 7 on Syracuse, 10 on WVU, 17 on UCONN, and 10 on PITT all in losses last fall. They also only return 5 starters on O. And return ALL 11 of their bad defensive players. Dooley is talking the way he is to make sure the team doesn't overlook this game. But I can't see how, if UT shows up motivated to play hard, they don't put a serious beat down on Cincinnati.
