Pat Forde: media is stupid!

Coaching carousel winners and losers

Pat Forde doesn’t get it! The fans knew the cost! Principle above sports!

Currie is an idiot and needs to be fired! Thanks for letting the Haslams make this Browns 2.0… I cant believe he was so disconnected with what the fan base has been saying for two weeks! Schiano is rat poison!

But this is how it's done. There was no search committee. Currie and 3 or 4 boosters picked who they wanted ... and Currie's job was to write the contract and sell it to the fan base.

Well, he's no salesman. That's for sure.

This same media that is roasting the fan base now is the same media that would have been roasting the program for hiring a .500 coach with a highly questionable background tomorrow if the hire had gone through.

Since when has Pat Forte gotten it when UT is concerned. He is a Tennessee hatin' tool. Forget him!

Who knows what happened at penn state? I'm not sure how to feel about it. He may have known and may not have but he is being treated as guilty with no way of proving otherwise.

Exactly! We've been the butt of jokes by ESPN and other sports media ever since the Manning Heisman fiasco. It doesn't matter what we do they're going to find a way to spin it into a negative.

Tennessee is one of the most profitable programs in the SEC, yet goes for a bargain basement hire like Schiano, does it really surprise you?:banghead2:

No, and that's really what pisses me off, Currie must be fired immediately, then Davenport, clean house of this scum.....start over

It's a win-win for the media either way. Damn for us being put in this position.

First off , pat forde, if we were ok with being mediocre, we could have just kept botch or even doolander. Anyone with a brain knows Tennessee is better than the last decade’s record.

BUT, For UT to just be coming off a horrible scandal pertaining to fostering a culture of rape, the idea that we would be ok with hiring a coach that even allegedly was aware, hell even a 0.1% chance of knowing, is appalling.

I’m not sorry for condemning schiano for his reported inaction over potential wins. I have kids of my own that are relying on us as a society to set a freaking example. Someone has to draw a freaking line. Today it was VN.

Exactly! Because no decent coach will ever come to UT again. As per the Latin: Suckunt, suckavunt, suckabunt!

These types are complete morons. Like Dan Wetzel from the NYT indignant over our fan base and asking what evidence is there against Schiano. These idiots don't have the faintest clue of what they're talking about. What a great gig

Pat Forde is one of the worst sports writers. He writes personal attacks against fans and schools. It is real bizarre. Him and his pal Dan Wolken take things very personally.

Your first sentence says it all....."who knows what happened."

Since we don't know & and most wouldn't want anyway people let their voices be heard...... And I'm very proud to be a 40 year Vol fan.

If you ran a bank and one potential employee was accused of stealing from another bank and everyone knew this would you hire them or someone else who was just as qualified?

If Pat Forde was an actual decent journalist he'd realize that the reason that Tennessee is a "loser" as he puts it, is because of hiring bottom feeding, mediocre coaches like Schiano. I'm about as sick of hearing about Rutgers as much as I am of Jon Gruden and the Super Bowl. Schiano is universally despised by former coaches, players, scouts, etc. Somehow that nugget escapes people like Forde and Kirk Herbstreit. The fans spoke and it was about time that we were heard, we will have a say so in the coaching decision. It's our money that keeps people like Currie employed and it's our right to have at least somewhat of a say in things.

As a fan from out of the loop, what's up with the hate over Schiano. From what I've read elsewhere, the Idgit Clay Travis and someone hacking a Sarah Huckabee Sanders acct(god I hate that b!tch) used Social media mob mentality against the hire and told nothing but lies to you guys. Now, you've lost a coach that Bill freakin Belichek says is the greatest defensive mind he knows.
Wth are y'all doing. I mean we got problems at Arkansas but you guys are making up problems.

Anyway, just sharing so you guys know what EVERYONE NOT A VOL is thinking.

Lots of Northeast media elitists got their panties in a twist. Nobody here gives a rat's butt about their hyperbole. If anything, I feel better about what happened today seeing how bent out of shape so many people are who have zero interest in seeing the Vols ascend. An old lawyer I worked for when I was starting out used to tell me that he knew I'd done something good when another lawyer called him to complain about me. Today we did good.

Here's the thing. Don't know the average salary of most on here, but safe to say that Currie and his team (manning, fulmer, etc), make significantly more money than most all of us. Yet, the common fan knew how this would end. When I saw the release of Schiano today, shortly followed by immediate eruption, I told my son there's no way this would stick...just no way out of the PR mess.

NOW, Currie has created a bigger PR mess, when common sense should have saved the day. Now, other coaches will get higher price tag because we know they're desperate, but Vol Nation showed our power, and depending how you want to look at it, our posterior. And, suspect some will shy away from this circus.

Schiano may be innocent, but the fact that everything so white hot in media on sexual assault, is too close to risk...and the fact that he didn't recognize this is a fireable offense...along with the committee that approved it. We are, in fact doomed. I'm out of hope for UT football. Name Fulmer the interim until this mess clears is the best answer, BY FAR.

Nobody knows exactly what happened except for Schiano himself.

I have testified under oath many times. No way i would testify to something that wasnt true......thats called perjury and is a punishable offense.

I especially wouldn’t testify if it had no bearing on the outcome of the trial or my innocence. So i ask the question, how did it help McQueary by including Schiano in his testimony? He had no proof of GS’s involvement in any way. Was he making it up? Was he trying to validate his own testimony?

The last question i would ask is why would UT want this black cloud over the campus regardless if schiano was involved or not when there are plenty of candidates that wont restoke the Title IX fires?
