Big Al was so intimidating, I think his teammates were scared to let up, quit, or not give their all...because he would be in their faces immediately. He also led by example, he was truly a dominant player that could take over games, and end drives, all by himself. His highlights still amaze me. He played every single down like his life depended on it. He was the very, very rare LB that actually scared offensive players because he hit so hard...every snap. Dang I miss the "POP" of him meeting RBs in the hole, or creaming a TE on a crossing route. People feared that defense. The last time anyone feared any part of our defense was when EB played safety. Miss you, Big Al...
Also...look at his highlights from Denver, rookie season, 4th and goal from the 1...offense runs the HB dive play that we always ran where the HB goes airborne from about the 2yd line....Big Al meets him in the air....helmet to helmet...POP!!!...HB lands almost back at the 2yd line where he came from. Amazing play. Denver wins.
