Passing Yards by our Opponents thus far in 2024 vs UT Passing Attack

Before you come in here with your sky is falling, BVS self spouting nonsense, please do some research.

Arkansas - net passing yards per game - 283
Arkansas - rushing yards per game - 212

Passing yards against SEC teams
Auburn - 151
T A&M - 279

Passing yards against UAB - 161

Arkansas got over 3/4 of their net Passing yards against Pine Bluff and OSU.

408 against Arkansas Pine Bluff and 416 against Okie State.

When they play a defense with a pulse, they struggle. No need to freak out about Arkansas....
Another thing to add to your excellent post. In 3 of the 4 games we have played, we completely shut down the offense in the fourth quarter. Two of them were shut down in the second half. Nico has only had to play in the first half; and against Oklahoma the entire game was at a different pace due to field and personnel issues.

In essence, we had 4 live game type scrimmages with a lot players getting valuable playing time.

I mean it's obvious that this will be the best offense/QB we have faced but what also is obvious is that our entire defense, including the secondary, is significantly better than last year. We are vastly improved at all three levels. Green could hit a big play or two but there's just as good of a chance that he will fumble or throw an INT.
Defense is improved and better. “vastly” and “significantly” are debatable at this point based on the deficiencies of the offenses faced. It looks promising though.

Who responds to a fellow Vol fan like that? All I did was provide stats and my thoughts on our secondary not being tested yet by our four opponents. Up to humans to interpret stats on their own.

Golfprovol. You're new on here, so in the future, you can agree with a post or disagree. We are TN fans and all root for the same team. We are above calling each other names or casting aspersions. Everyone is entitled to an opinion.
You sir must be new to the internet. But on a more serious note...real friends, compatriots, comrades tell each other the truth. When people all become yes men we have the WNBA where you cant tell your teammate they should maybe not rock the 6 inch press on nails in a game because that would be hating.

The internet is where reality hits you're no longer in your echo chamber and, right or wrong, people will call you out when they don't agree. It helps one gain perspective.

Either way its looked good. Our defense has looked way worse against worse offenses in the past. I personally think the hate piled on the secondary was a bit much but for the past 10 or so years opposing QB's tended to have their best passing games against us. I think part of it was secondary but part was other things like we've had fairly stout run defense and our defensive depth couldn't keep up with the number of snaps they had to play. We have enough depth to rotate most positions on defense now. I don't think its as much about the starters talent level improving as it is the dropoff on 2nd and 3rd is less steep.

When I was a young kid, name calling was done in a sandbox amongst children because we didn't know how to articulate our thoughts and respect other peoples opinions.

As an adult, we (should) know that people will have varying opinions and, how to navigate through conversations when people oppose our views. Example:

Pimo1 - you might say you are a Democrat and someone could say that is fine and, that is your prerogative

However, what if this was the reply:

Pimo1, you are an uninformed Igno ramous and you are wrong about your thoughts.

Agree or disagree with someone's opinions however, one goes over the line of civility to tell someone that their opinion is incorrect.

I think our secondary has been untested thus far. One can agree, or disagree.

Anyway, hope you have a splendid day and that our Vols put a whoopin' on the Razorbacks this weekend. (Agree or, disagree?)

It's the internet thats their opinion and they are free to express it and I'm free to clap back. Im not gonna whine about it. I know who I am and can stand up for myself. Everyone comes from different backgrounds so we deal with adversity differently. I would call the we are all Vols comeback as weak participation trophy crap. Some homeschool-ish. As the kids say these days weird.

When I was young kid/adult when you had a disagreement you talked it out and let them know. If that didn't work hands sorted it. We had the 'fanroom' policy. Coach or Master Cheif would send you to a backroom/fanroom close the door with the 2 of you in there and when you were done you came out and went back to business an left your beef in that room. In the internet age that's not a thing you'd get sued. So you stand on your own ten. Does not matter who the person is mother, brother, wife, pastor if they are wrong you call them out. You talk it out. Then if you do happen to be one of those people I will pick you up pat the dut off and we go on with our lives. If you're not I leave you in the puddle of your own blood.

as an aside I think most of this board would agree with the statement that our secondary hasn't really been tested. I think most would also agree this wont be the game they do get tested. Arkansas has the least threatening QB from a passing perspective we have seen all year. The argument was the number you posted were very misleading. Arkansas was not the most prolific passing attack compared to other teams (per game) we have faced, it was UTC by a large margin. Also all those other teams played against us... Arkansas hasn't played a strong passing defense.

I honestly thought Nico would be better than 10th in the SEC as far as passing yards. I didn’t think Thorne at AU and Manning would have more passing yards at this point.

he has played like 2 games. some of the SEC are up to 5. we have also been playing with a lead, and not chasing like Auburn has.

Texas is all flash, they are going to run up every stat they can.

Nico is 10th in yards per attempt in the nation. yeah that means there are like 4 SEC QBs in front of him, but its not as bad as "10th in the SEC" makes it sound.

Primo1: I simply copied and pasted some stats from the same website. Go blame ESPN and call them names if you don't like their stats.

My goodness!!
