Ok I just started my first season with West Virgina.. Its been pretty good so far, im playing on heisman level with 4 min quarters. My running back (slaton) has led me to almost all 4 of my victories so far. I've been trying to do some pass plays here and there, and trying to bomb some deep to my better WR's. Everytime I do, i get picked off. Its impossible to throw one deep. I've been finding luck throwing to my TE's but my WR's are not getting any yards unless its like a 2 yard pass. Luckily I got a fast QB Pat White to help slaton out a little, but has anyone found any pattern, type of formation, play, anything to help the passing game out..?

They changed the AI in the secondary so you can't throw it long every play. You have to do it at the right time. Try calling hot routes, always helps w/ me.

..Has anyone here succeeded in putting air under the ball on a pass? I remember how much pride I took in leading receivers in games past... This year if the ball dosen't hit them in the chest, it's swatted away.

I know, in last years game i only noticed that when the QB couldn't throw far enough and it end up falling short. The Secondary AI settings are crazy on this game!!

I don't have a problem passing... I just finished my 4th game and Ainge is already close 800 yards and he was hurt for 3 of 4 quarters in the last game. I just throw short, but I have completed some long passes. Running against any good defense with Coker is nearly impossible for me, Foster I can run with though.

ive had some 300 yards games, but for the most part, passing has been hard to succeed with for me. the deep balls usually work the best on playaction plays. pumpfaking can thow off a db too if you have the time to do it.

For some reason im just having a hard time with passing, rushing is no problem though. My half back, slaton, is averaging 300 yd's a game and 4 td's.

Perhaps the problem is that you've got a terrible QB. I posted somewhere around 3,300 yards passing in my first season playing with UT with Ainge at the helm, and I'm on my way to destroying that mark with Crompton in my second season. So far, Crompton is passing for somewhere around 350 yds/game.

I consider the passing game to be much more realistic now. How many "bombs" do you see caught in real games? 1 or 2? 3 at the most??

Anyone use the pump fake move to throw off the safeties? It works quite well- especially vs. the zone.

I haven't had a problem throwing the ball deep, my problem has been INTs. My WR will be running a crossing route 15-20 yards behind a LB with no one else around him. I try to float the ball to the WR and the LB will use his 78" vertical leap to make the INT. Very very annoying.

My first year with EKU in the Big East I completed 70% of my passes with a hair under 5,000 yards with 73 tds and 17 ints.

My first year with updated rosters in the Big 12 with EKU I completed 65% of my passes with 72 touchdowns and only 7 picks.

It is all about matchups. If you are using tennessee put Brown as your fullback. Go to the strong formation and do what I think it crosses, you will get a 10-15 yard catch every time. Also, when you have a fast player at fullback us the play action fullback pass on your first set of plays, it is all the way over to the left.

Your basic I formation has a play called in's? Basically your receiver goes 10-15 yards and then turns. Great play for first down.

Like some previous people said, the deep ball is gone from this game. Which annoyed me at first until I figured out how to beat the computer's secondary.

On this game you need to get your receiver behind the defensive backs. Ace formation double tight end, push up and it should be some sort of playaction with one of your receiver's doing a post. You will kill the computer with this play.

Also, use your tight ends in the medium range.

Most important know your audibles and beat the blitz!

Ok results..

The strong formation worked every now and then, Ace formation gave up 3 ints in 3 passes.. The LOLB intercepted it all 3 times.. So i gave up on it.. The curls, my guy takes a big hit every time.. I just can't get the passing game to work..

This was with Alabama vs. Southern Miss (In the first quarter)........

Are you throwing your passes incredibly late or what? On curl and comeback routes, you should throw the pass right before the receiver breaks back for the ball. You should not be taking huge hits on these routes if you're timing it properly. I'm baffled by everyone's difficulty in the passing game on this version because I'm lighting the defense up through the air.

I love the Ace formation- very versatile.

The ace is a match up nightmare, I have five ace formations in my playbook.

Racer, it sounds as though you are either dropping back to far, you do not have your feet set or you are throwing the ball incredibly late.

The o-line sucks :censored:...

When i'd drop back, i'd have to keep going back or drop off the the side to get away from all the pressure and John Parker Wilson ain't the fastest QB out there! lol! Ill try it with a better o-line and try to stay in the pocket.. :crossfingers: Does scrambling and not having your feet completely set really affect the passing that much..?

Btw for all you "passers" out there.. Strong Normal, play called RB crosses. Scramble out the the left a little to throw the LB's off, and you got a wide open TE but watch the Blitz and also the Safeties when pulled up..

Not having your feet set will cause underthrown, overthrown, ahead, behind, etc.

As I am progressing through my second season INTs are starting to drop significantly. I have found that using roll out plays and getting the QB outside the pocket opens things up. Crompton is on pace for about 4,500 yards and an ungodly amount of TDs. This game, just like every other year, proves to be way too easy.
