Did you notice Kippy Brown's title - Wide Receivers coach and passing game coordinator? Brown is an upgrade over Wilson and with his experience he should be making a lot more $ than Wilson.

You have to wonder if the passing game coordinator title is because they feel that Chaney is returning the NFL after the bowl game??? If so, wonder if the new RB coach will be also a running game coordinator and we have no offensive coordinator next year since CLK already calls the plays.

Thoughts....

i thought that was odd too. i'm not skilled/experienced enough to recognize CJC's stamp on our offense this year so i can't say what it would be like without him. interesting thought process though

One of the best "running game coordinators" we could ever hope for is already on the staff... Mitch Browning. Just look back at his resume at Minnesota and I think you'll agree. If Chaney leaves I would like a scenario where Browning is the OC/ RG Coordinator and Kippy WR/PG Coordinator. With Kiffin running the show. That makes for a very impressive offensive staff.

I think they screwed up the title, but it's not the first thing they have screwed up.

that's very true. but i have read where CLK says "passing game coordinator" several times so who knows. i find it hard to believe they'd push Chaney out after only a year.

Kiffin never said what he would be, I searched the article on UTSports.com and the only mentions were in the first part of the article. Still though, if he is the passing game coordinator, Chaney is as good as gone, IMO.

Kiffin was a WR coach and passing game coordinator at USC before he took over as OC in '05, wasn't he?

Well, looks like Chaney is gone. Kippy would be an upgrade in certain aspects, but Chaney is better with the QBs and OL. We'll see, I guess.

Agreed but wasn't chaney also involve with some piece of the Offensive Line ?? Cregg had part of it and Chaney had the other piece

I believe Browning is an OL guy too if I'm not mistaken. If this scenario were to go down we need to land a top notch RB coach/ Recruiter to compliment as well.

I think the "passing game coordinator" part of the title is just that - a title. He is the WR coach. IMO, the title is just resume fluff, and so as to pay him more than the other position coaches.

I remember last year a B12 school had a PGC, RGC, and "Offensive Head Coach". None of them called plays, the HC did. It's just titles, nothing more.

Agreed, I think the title is justification for his income. Happens all the time.

Now everyone can see how rumors start. One guy says IN HIS OPINION and eveyone will freak out saying he is leaving for a fact.

You will see some different passing routes run with Brown at the helm...Should be exciting.
