the point is moot with Cheney at the helm... he is devoid of any knowledge of how to establish a running game.
I beat this horse to death last fall, but many on here are incapable of understanding how the run opens up the pass.
You are obviously incapable of understanding you can't run the ball against SEC defenses consistently and be successful with the o-line we had last year. There were what, 3 freshman on the line playing all the time?
Cheney did what he had to do last year because of inexperience on the line, not because he is "devoid of any knowledge". You obviously know nothing of football if you think otherwise.
This year's team will run the ball a lot more effectively for a couple of reasons.. one because our O-line will be much better and also because our passing game will be very good. I would be more concerned with the defensive side of the ball if I were you instead of being blindly ignorant.
With that said I say we are still a pass first team this year, especially if Bray progresses like the coaches want.
what will your excuse be this year when we don't have a running game? Can't blame the O-line again.
I'll say it again...this isn't the slow bigten Chaney knew at Purdue 10 years ago. If you can't run the ball in the SEC, you can't consistently win.
Has there been a pass first team win the league since the Spurrier gators of the 90s
So you don't think the line was a problem last year? We were perfectly capable of having a solid rushing attack if only JC would give in and call more running plays?what will your excuse be this year when we don't have a running game? Can't blame the O-line again.

Ok, I understand now....you don't need a halfway decent line to run the ball in the SEC, just a "little thinking cap". We all understand what a good running game does for both sides of the ball but you don't seem to understand what is required to have a good running game.A good OC can minimize his weaknesses on the OL without completely abandoning the running game. Rather than using it as an excuse, as many of you are doing, he could have put on his little thinking cap and come up with a way to run the ball on first down, and do it with success. If he couldn't, he should be replaced. I think that rather than try, which would have taken effort and game planning, he went back to what worked for him with Drew Brees and Kyle Orton (throwing on first down) and it didn't work, and won't work, in the SEC... defenses are too fast.
If he keeps up the same crap this year, we will continue to get worn down in the second half of games, just as we did last season, because we can't keep our defense off the field by chewing up the clock and moving the chains.
A good running game does two very fundamental things: Keeps your defense off the field and keeps their defense on the field. I'm not reinventing the wheel here.
