Participation Trophy?

Would she have gotten an award for this effort in a womens game? No, because they would've given it to someone who actually made a difference or appeared to have an outstanding effort. I didn't see the kick but I heard she had a person holding the ball and probably guarding her if it was returned. Word is she was practicing pregame the extra point and the ball was barely making it over the goal post.

Yes, The whole situation is political BS.

Indeed, I was going to wait to see what happens this Saturday before offering an "incorrect" view of SEC action

Is it possible Vandy pushed this to soften Mason's firing?

My opinion yesterday this was something Mason was gung-ho about initiating and it got him fired. I really don’t know.

Has any other SEC...or any other P5 or G5 conference kicker...ever won their conference POW award for what the Vandy kicker did?

So there's your answer. I'll hang up and listen.....
She won the special team player of the week not the player of the week.

Edit: unless she won both.

Yes, I'm sure no other special teams player did anything to trump a 30 yd pooch kickoff.

Had you made that kick in a wig, it would have been you. Just imagine the eCred you would have had on VN after that one...

She "won" it because of her gender. Was it a historic moment in college football? Technically. Was her one kick a spectacular play? It was an uninspiring pooch kick in a blowout game. I think it was a bad decision to give her that recognition and probably cheapens whatever recognition she might have earned because that undeserved honor is now part of the conversation.

It’s a publicity stunt. What you do when you suck and nobody cares.
Anyone know of a girl that we play at QB?

Poor girl. She had no right to be on that field. It wasn't a "win for women". It wasn't empowering. It was embarrassing. If she had earned that spot then yeah, absolutely amazing! Shame it was nothing more than a publicity stunt. Everything about it is awful.

The pooch kick was so she wouldn't have to play the kickers role of last line defense. come on none of candy players NEVER ever kicked, even grade school high school?

There are instances where I would like to see things like this. I truly believe that Candace Parker could have gotten an NBA roster spot with somebody. Having been in fight business, I can tell you unquestionably that Amanda Nunes can whip lots of male fighters that have gotten a shot. And I’m totally convinced that the female softball coach at my high school would have made a vicious middle linebacker. But this was a joke and that seems to be the consensus among level headed people. It’ll be interesting to see if she stays with the team and gets into more games. If not, Vandy is admitting what most everybody else has already figured out.
