Parking Spots -- Need Advice

The new G10 rules are going to go over like a turn in a punchbowl. Given the fact that OU is the 1st game, this is going to be a mess.

If you can walk a few miles, State street garage has been good to me. Free, not a bad walk, fairly level if you take the bridges over Henley and Cumberland. Fills up though - I drive in from Alabama and have had problems an hour before kick.

Question: Looked at a city of Knoxville parking map. They show other areas of free parking that I've never used. I'm attaching an image - someone comment if these other areas are available for games.

Those areas have the orange "P" on the image.

NOTE: Click on the image for full size. I pulled this off the web some time ago, the information may be stale. Please verify on your own. (which is why I'm asking here for feedback)

No later than 9:00 a.m. , but closer to 7:00 would be best.

I'd agree with that.

We don't park in G10, but we're still planning on being on campus around noon. I fully expect traffic everywhere on campus to be a disaster.

Lot 40 is a completely useless and offensive concept. Is it even in area code 865? I bet you can pick up the Nashville TV stations with a small antennae. You can pay cheaper and get far closer using private lots closer to campus.

The school just did not want to admit they were out of spaces due to construction and overselling, so they try that crap. Why not just sell parking at the new "Cherokee Campus?" It's just as close and at least you could hitch a ride from a damn boat!

If you don't have the spaces, don't overcharge for a lot that UT happens to own in freaking Loudon County and say "enjoy the game" Just say. "I'm sorry but we are out of spaces" Selling spaces in this lot is just bush league and embarrassing.

And I see they are selling spaces in the Locust Street Garage downtown. How stupid is that!?!? You can park for free at Market Square Garage and State Street Garage on the weekend!!!! These garages are nearby and actually easier to get out of.

If UT does not want the middle-class to attend football games and park anywhere near campus in their lots, then just tell them. Don't hint or beat around the bush.

I'm sure the buses for Lot 40 will come every 90mins and there will still be "fans" waiting for buses at kickoff. Your fans are not chattel to be milked every few months. If you can't park them, then quit taking their money for parking. Don't make the process a complete farce.

Exactly what I've been thinking. I'm pissed I got stuck in lot 40 (now trying to sell but will probably have to give away) after being repeatedly told I'd at least get ag campus. No way will I buy parking from UT again when I can park half a mile from Neyland, be in an awesome tailgating environment, and pay way less since I can't attend every home game anyways.
