"I havent heard anything about that" "fans can be the enemy too"

If you havent heard it, why would you assume it's true?

Sad reality of some in this fan base - the interesting thing is that many on Vol twitter are denying this is true - yet it doesn't take much googling to find many examples of where this is true.

And it is doubly sad that a player is asked about this.

Some supposedly "fans" need to think before they type.

You are missing the context of the question. More than likely the reporter indicated this was happening and asked for his opinion. So his first sentence was that he hadn't personally heard or seen it. His second was in response to the fact that the reporter just told him it was happening.

Why assume it is true? Unless he has had his head buried in the sand he has probably seen enough of the negativity to know that it is very likely true which it is.

Has anyone heard of this boycott prior to him trying to embarrass a player? Not exactly the look you want when you'll be hunting for a job soon

Looks like the UT trolls are back at it and suckered this sad little reporter. Why anyone finds them entertaining is beyond me

But players don't read and react to what fans post according to some. It doesn't affect them.

Danny Parker works for Scout. The company has filed bankruptcy,so he's probably gonna be looking for a new job soon. Sounds like he's trying to stir a feces filled pot to me.

So the "Fans are against the University.
The "Fans" are thus against the Players.
And then by boycotting, it makes them against other "Fans"
My question is who are these "Fans"? Those anonymous folks inside the AD are at it again......

This was a question asked by a reporter
Okay,he didn't read it personally. I was wrong. He did react to it tho. According to some threads, whatever negativity they hear or read about doesn't affect them according to some posts in threads on here.

I agree that this is very sad, but why would a reporter ask this question?

Thats what I am wanting to know. What was he trying to accomplish? There have been numerous write ups lately that are questionable from journalists about our football program.

Well, there were plenty of posts here after the Vandy loss and when it was announced that we were going to MCB urging fans to vote with their wallets to force the athletic department and boosters to pull a rabbit out of a hat (fire Jones and hire Neyland's Ghost or something similar.) it wasn't just not going to the bowl; it was "Don't go to games --lost revenue is the only thing they'll listen to." yada yada

I agree that the trolls suckered the writer.

The difference being this is an amateur forum...stupid stuff is expected. That's a professional forum...supposedly.

Lot of "amater"ish professional reporters out there.

While I agree this is a question a reporter should not have asked - for those of you who are saying the content of what was asked is not true well it doesn't take much digging to see that it is actually true.

There were plenty of posts saying "Why go to this useless bowl etc". These "fans" are just loud mouths who like to look for the negative and say I told you so.

It is pretty easy to do - say Coach Jones, Dobbs, AD etc can't get it done. Then when a loss happens just say "I told you so". The loss could be against anyone. If you are this type of person your odds are in your favor because the only time you are wrong is when TN wins a National Championship which has happened twice in past 50 years. Then like in 98 they can still say it was luck or team did in in spite of coach etc.
