Palardy update?

Palardy was banging them out of the endzone on kickoffs in high school. I remember watching the Byrnes vs STA game on tv & he looked like the real deal.

true - I even saw film of him kicking FGs from the 50 yard line in warmups, IDK what the deal is - since I am a Colts fan this sudden slump reminds me of Vandeshanks, so good, then pfffft he is done.

Was based on him kicking from the 35 yard line in HS and kicking a softer, more kicker friendly ball. The balls UT uses are hard and not very kicker friendly.

Actually, he was kicking from the 40.

Somebody should ask Dooley his philosophy on kickoffs. Are we trying to have high shorter kicks? I would rather just boot it into the endzone if the kicker can do it.

Yes we are. Coverage was excellent on our kickoffs and Montana's starting position reinforces that. With high directional kicks, coverage can be angled to that side of the field and get down the field. End zone boots are no good if he has to kick a line drive to get it to the endzone and coverage is nowhere close. The returner would be at the 25 before meeting anyone.

I heard he was very accurate on kickoffs and they have coverage designed to follow. However, it would still be nice to see some balls get to Bob's "Checkerboards."

if you watch his films his balls through the endzone the hang time was 3.5 or so....he has been quoted as saying he workied on his hangtime all summer if his koffs are 65 ish with 3.85-4.0 he is doing a great job
