Palardy To Start On Kickoffs

It may not be the kickers as much as it is the ball. I coach a 11u team (and i know its only little league), but the wilson gst is not kicker friendly. We use the gst on O but our kicker uses nike elite. it adds a good 7-10 yards. And that is a 10 year old. so you could imagine the difference with this level of kickers.

Also, Palardy is probably our long-range guy this year. If we need a 45+ FG, I bet he comes in. Lincoln's absolute range is 52 (from warmups, he hit the support where it intersects the crossbar from 52). I imagine live range is less than warm-up range. So Palardy is probably the man on the long ones.

It will be interesting to see what we do in those situations. We had an opportunity or 2 to kick some long ones against UTM but elected to go for it. I'm surprised that we didn't get some live practice in.

if we have to kick a 52 yarder I would rather simms toss it up for grabs in the endzone than send lincoln into the ball game...

I was expecting/hoping for live practice as well. I bet that we usually go for it from that distance. But if we have a kick at the end of a half or end of the game (or perhaps a 4th and long), I expect we're more likely to see Palardy than a hail mary.

Oregon must not travel east very much. They are going to be a little tired.

Not really. The left coast is 3 hours "behind" the east. Therefore if they arrive at 8pm eastern, their bodies are expecting 5pm. Kickoff at 7pm means they are feeling 4pm.

Traveling is tiring period, but the time zone issue may even be a slight advantage for the westies. A noon kickoff might have been better. Throw in some ND height grass, spike their Gatorade and send Lacie Pearl for a cameo apperance and we might own this game!

Hooray...I have been anxiously awaiting this young man's foot since last year. Nothing against Cunningham, I never cheer against a kid especially a VOL, but we need to put offenses on the 20 yard line. Hope Palardy can do the job. GO VOLS

"The two most important things (on kickoffs) are distance and placement," Dooley said. "Chad has got a little better distance than Mike, and Mike has a little better placement than Chad, so we're ironing out those two things.

This was from the Article "For Starters, it's Lincoln, Cunningham".

Scary, considering how short Cunningham's kickoffs were.

I believe many UT fans are going to be disappointed Saturday night. Mike will do as well as he can but this back of endzone stuff let alone endzone is going to have many fans not meeting expectations on this kid. Just hope they don't take it out on the kid...
