Palardy Speaks.

Meline has some SERIOUS speed.......

There is more to returning punts than speed. The very first and most fundamental requirement is to catch the ball -- an element we have had some problems with in recent years. The next requirement is similar -- while running, he has to hang on to the ball -- fumbles will kill any return game, turning field position around as few other plays in football can.

Catch it, then hang on to it. Then show us your speed and ability to avoid tackles.

Palardy, the No. 1-rated kicker by Scout.com has been working hard all summer to come in to Knoxville to compete for all the kicking jobs during the Vols fall camp.
At least he's not complacent knowing that he's the future for kicking at UT.

you got to love this guy. Even though he was a kiffin recruit this guy obviously has the right attitude and I love it.

i'm glad you all are so impressed with him. this makes me feel more positive considering the only thing i've seen from him was the army game where he missed both of his field goal tries

You can't kick the ball through the guy that is standing in front of your kick in the backfield! Both the fg and xtra point were blocked right up the middle...not from behind the line of scrimmage. If they don't block them, you can't kick em...you don't have the success he has had by mistake! If you see the pics of the blocks, these guys were in the backfield on the kick. He didn't miss! I have watched this kid for 3 years now, he had a 2 1/2 year streak of unmissed extra points before his senior year when he had one blocked...again breakdown on blocking up the middle. You secure the middle for him, he will make the xp and gives you a great shot at 3 points every time. Got to block the middle for him...don't think I have ever seen one blocked from the outside on him.

My favorite quote:

It's really just unfair that a program could have both the number one kicker and the number one punter.

Haha. Love it. This kid just became my favorite recruit. Love the confidence and the work ethic.

Care to explain the other 2 field goals he missed in that game? Lincoln is terrible, period. If we had a competent kicker in that Bama game, we win.

Other than Lincoln's freshman year, he has been a terrible kicker. Just a 58.8% success rate since then. Even his freshman year when he started out looking like the next great kicker for UT, he faded pretty bad at the end of the year.

I'm aware of that. I was just saying he has got some serious speed. Lets just see what happens :)

If he doesn't redshirt Rajion Neal could be a big time return man. Also, Marcquez Dixon wasn't too shabby on his films, although he may not qualify. Meline is the other option...Da'Rick probably would not be used as a returner because of fear of injury the same with Hunter...Oku is the top choice.

Punt returns could be JJ since he was working on this in the spring. Clark, if he qualifies, may be another punt returner option.

This. Screw using (perhaps) our biggest offensive threat in a high risk gamble to injury.

Yeah, (even tho I kind of agree with you) but he had Dominique Easley and some mean DE/DT's coming through that OL easily!
He'll be better than Lincoln!?
