Paint the Rock - Version Prater/Fulton

I have to be in knoxville for a leadership thing for school friday morning so I was thinking about going a little early to do some painting, so for me itd be early friday morning

i might go up there and try to help out with painting the rock. if my help is needed
The biggest help might not even require having to show up...if somebody can call the program director over the Art (Graphic Design) Dept at UT, and ask if they can help (letting them know this is REALLY making a tangible difference in recruiting efforts).
If they can get some students to "Volunteer" to make some large posterboard stencils of the letters (you can attach the image). If they can use the Photoshop file, I can e-mail it to them with font and all. They have a few days to get this done...surely they can help. If not, I wonder if the Athletic Dept. would be interested in helping to push this along.

It might help calling them (AD) first...I'm sure they are aware of how much this is helping. They would have sufficient pull to get stencils made and perhaps provide the paint, too.

If the stencil thing doesn't work out, whomever is going to do the painting, it would help a good deal to take some large permanent markers to sketch the letters and Power T first, and hand paint all the letters (using the sketch as a guide, of course).

I wouldn't doubt ESPN gets wind of this and has a brief segment about it at some point...especially BB's and Nuke's case.

We may see Orange Swarm's mug on TV this year...and they'll have to bleep out the part about using his "Pimp Hand" to keep the Sororistitutes away from the Rock. :)

Thanks guys...this is going to knock their socks off! :good!:

Nice attempt, but no. Do not attempt to get the school to do anything.
The school cannot help to promote anything regarding an athlete by name to the public. It's a secondary violation for them to promote prospects by name.

We, as fans, need nothing more than paint and ingenuity. I've painted it before, and would certainly help to do it again.

yeah i am going to have to doubt that ESPN is gonna do a piece about a rock with paint on it

unless its a violation

If UT does anything to assist the painting of the rock, it would be a violation.

So if that's the case, hopefully ESPN doesn't get a sniff of it!

I have got 3 others that said they will paint with me on friday night. I will be going around 12 midnight to do my best to prevent anyone else painting over it that night.

Cool...didn't know that. Just wait...sooner or later, word will get around. ESPN would love to get a hold of it and blame CLK for another violation, even if he had nothing to do with it. Just ask the gas-pumping SCe recruit. :)

I hate to shoot this idea down but stencils would not likely work. The surface is too uneven and has many crevasses. Not to mention that spray paint doesn't adhere well to other paint, so it tends to run down the surface and mess the lettering up. I would suggest using a roller to paint the background, let it dry, and then use a paintbrush to do the letters and such.

Sometimes it's little things like this that can tip the balance...good job, Swarm, stepping up to the plate. I'd try to help, but I currently live out here in CA...not too far from Scroggins!:

You should go paint Scroggins = TN Championships on his lawn!

edit: Don't forget the V.B.
