Personally, I am glad we have a coaching staff that will "separate the stove wood from the kindlng". Our practices will now be composed of "players" who can and are willing to compete in SEC football. This is not the MAC, Sun Belt or the MWAC. It is the SEC.

Hangers-ons, discipline problems, ner-do-wells and those who aren't willing to put out 100% every second of every drill and every play need to find a new pasture in which to graze. If they don't have the ability, character or heart, they need to either gather their togs and get out of the way or Coach Kiffin will help them pack and show them the door..

Thank you. No knock on Fulmer, but I think people are just not used to guys getting kicked off or leaving. That makes everyone wanna think the sky is falling, when we are really just trimming the "fat."

I'm not worried about recruiting at all next year. The staff put together an awesome class with 2 months of recruiting. What will they do with 14 months?

This staff was essentially left with a lot of holes to fill. Those holes are Fulmer's responsibility. There is no real reason to expound on it or drag names through the mud, but the deficit shouldn't be totally ignored.

Is Sawtelle really gone?

I thought he was just injured

Ohhhhhh...

Just saw the "Darris Sawtelle has quit team" thread in this forum...

I know he hasn't done anything of note while here....but our OL situation(especially for 2010) just keeps getting scarier and scarier

If the coaches want these guys gone so be it. One of the biggest issues I and many had with CPF was having trouble makers (on and off the field) on the team.

seems to me these coches are gettin these kids ready for life after college. i have always been told that you can apply things from football into your daily life cause you cant go through life half assed jus like you cant give a half assed effort on the field.

I am tired of the off-field drama. I am ready for the pads to be put on, and business to be settled on the field.

Fulmer also seemed to be bringing in medicore talent. Let Kiffin weed out the weak. We'll be better off in the long run.

Actually, Paige specifically was supposed to be something that refuted that. He was a steal and a top rated player. Then when he wasn't turning up in games people blamed Fulmer for not using the young talent. (nevermind Moore and Jones, from the same class, getting PT) Now it looks like Fulmer et al were justified in not getting Paige on the field though I doubt many will give them credit for it.

Fulmer's gone and I've got no qualms with it but some of these names that are leaving under CLK as "good riddance" were the same ones cited by critics of Cpf of not putting his talent on the field.

I think that's a different animal. He's not gone for lack of talent or even his on the field production. I was referring more to the Paige's (gone) and Donald's (still nowhere near starting even with a change in staff) of the team. I'd heard some rumors, unsubstantiated to my knowledge, that Donald may be leaving. We'll see.

I think this shows that one of Fulmer's problems in the end was recruiting people who weren't going to be busts. None of the players leaving were established superstars. Besides, it isn't like we were winning with them on the team any way so I fail to see the difference. My guess is the odds were that they would continue to ride the pine, so rather than stay a lot of them are ditching for other opportunities. That's fine. The pressure was on Kiffin to bring in a top notch recruiting class from the beginning because our talent pool is apparently just not there. That was evidenced on the field last season.

I think this is a fair post. I just wanted to be sure all those people out there that were stressing how a "better" coach would have had Creer/Paige/Donald et al starting may have been in error with that assessment. The new staff didn't seem to have that much greater appreciation for a lot of these players than the last one.

As has been said earlier if these slots are filled with capable players in the next few recruiting classes none of this will matter. As has also been pointed out we'd better get some production out of who we DO have and pray for no injuries.

I dont think we need any more players giving up this spring. After awhile, it just doesn't look good new coach/staff or not.

What are you talking about?

If they aren't willing to buy in or good enough to play here then they need to leave.

Who cares what it looks like; we are trying to rebuild this program.

i think kiffs a wantabee and fulmer is a hasbeen

id take the hasbeen right about now.

not gonna be fun to watch, thats for sure!
Then don't watch it man....Kiffin hasn't even coached a game yet, get off his back....I was as big of a fan of Fulmer as one could be but it was time for him for change, we haven't been relevant in the NC talk since 2001, it was getting to be quite old...Say what you want to about Kiffin now but if/when he turns it around you will be on the band wagon

These guys couldn't get on the field under the last regime and now it's even tougher. CLK and Co. are here to win and bulid a championship calibre team. The weak will always get weeded out. I say good ridence!
